Dynamic lockdown template without header and footer

Hello everyone,

Hope you're having a good day.

I'm trying to combine most of our tenant's lockdown templates into a single dynamic one we can use for both horizontal and vertical Android terminals.

Of course, I started testing the SOTI dynamic template. However, I ran into some issues.

Nearly all our tenants want as much space for apps as possible, so just a background and some device information at the bottom of the screen.

I'm not good at all with HTML and the whole template doesn't fit into ChatGPT, so I messed around, but never ended up at the result I want.

Currently, I've deleted the header and footer blocks at the top of the template, and adjusted height and padding values until I ended up at something slightly acceptable. Not even close to production-ready though. Especially because its still broken in landscape orientation(see below).

I would really appreciate some insight into if this is the right way to accomplish my goal, or if there's a better way to get a clean dynamic template.

Thanks in advance,

Karel

Hi Karel, could you please share a screenshot of the final result you're aiming for? Additionally, if you can provide the HTML, we can review it and suggest any necessary changes to make it work for your use case.

With the native support of html/CSS/javascript in the lockdown menu template for MobiControl lockdown policies, there can be unlimited number of ways to design dynamic template for lockdown menu.  One can use default dynamic html template, which include obfuscated javascript codes, or build something based on popular CSS frameworks (including but not limited to jQuery/jQuery Mobile, Bootstrap, Tailwind, etc.) or completely customized template using standard html/CSS/javascript  language features.  Also, the layout need not be rectangular (i.e. MxN) as in most other MDM solutions available in the market. There can be a video port displaying advertising video while the device is idle waiting for user interaction, which is not uncommon in many kiosk machines found in shopping malls worldwide.

The language/framework choice may depend on your level of expertise in any of the above.  The advanced visual/layout features to be supported for different lockdown use-case/design,  and the scope of the devices (in terms of screen size/resolutions)  may also be factors to consider.

In addition to expertise in html/CSS/javascript, the designer should also have sufficient understanding of MobiControl to make the whole thing work.  For examples, ALL required framework files or graphics resources should be properly deployed onto the device to facilitate responsive lockdown menu function even when the device is offline.  Also, passing of different parameters defined in lockdown profile payload of MobiControl web-console to the target device agent  may need special care to bypass different parameter filtering implemented in different MobiControl server versions.

Without the above knowledge/expertise, making minor modifications to existing Soti template (dynamic or non-dynamic) may be a feasible approach to consider/follow.
