Deployment server keeps crashing

Hi all. Our Deployment server crashes very often so we have to start it again all the time (using the Administration utility).

Which logs (and where to find them in SOTI console) are best for finding the cause of the crashes? Or any better idea?

And is there a simple setting/way to start it automatically?

Thanks.

Hi Michal,

That's a very old version you are on; there have been numerous version releases with different builds containing bug fixes and enhancements since 15.0.1. You can read more about the different releases in the RELEASE NOTES.

Consider upgrading; if you're a cloud customer, you can simply request an upgrade.

You can find logs in the MobiControl Admin Utility and web console.

Access logs in the MobiControl Admin Utility by navigating to the Logs Settings tab. Set everything to Verbose Mode, view, and save the files. Remember to switch back from verbose mode when done.

Read more on logs in the web console at this link. Additional details on log levels can be found here.

When you mention crashes and restart, does it freeze or is the web console inaccessible? Could you please share more details?

This appears to be a break-fix issue. I recommend having SOTI Technical Support take a look at it.

Kind Regards,

In SOTI Admin Utility I can find logs only for last few minutes (the same for web console). Is it possible to find older logs somewhere?
When deployment server crashes, nothing freezes and web console is accessible. Only SOTI can't communicate with devices.

Thanks. I consider the update.

Is your server a cloud or on-premises implementation?  For the latter case, is it installed by yourself  or by other experienced team?

Your server version is pretty old and should have been installed for quite some time  Have you experienced similar stability problems in the earlier period?    Anyway, that version is not on the list I would recommend my own customers to use within the last couple of years.  Quick debugging based on various server log files may be done in the very short run, but there should be a plan to upgrade to better version in the  near future.

It is on-premise implementation. It was installed by external company long time ago so I don't know the details.

I consider that update.

As the server has been installed long time ago, it should have worked fine initially or otherwise your team should have chased after the external company.

Has anything (Windows server upgrade/patching, network architecture tuning, etc.)  be done recently after which your deployment server started to crash frequently?

Hi Michal,

In addition to above comments, Do you have high CPU/memory pic on your server that pick to %99 time to time especially during your file-sync and etc.

This may be causing this issue as well. Without seeing any log, it's what came to my mind at the moment.
