SOTI HUB - ERG?

Hi

We are currently looking into getting SOTI Hub deploy as we would need some .dox and .pdf files deployed to some Android phones.

I have been reading that you would either use webdav or sharepoint 2013 for deploying content.

Regarding sharepoint 2013 i have some questions.

1.Would we need to deploy ERG?

2.Can it be installed on the same server as mobicontrol ?

We would just need our content to be deployed without any auth from the end-users to the devices as some if them is in lockdown mode.

3. Webdav - Can this be installed on the same server? and do we need ERG for this?

Hi Klaus,

1.Would we need to deploy ERG?

Only if your SharePoint server is behind a Firewall that restricts access to devices outside of your network. If SharePoint is reachable outside of your network then ERG is not necessary.

2.Can it be installed on the same server as mobicontrol?

Not recommended, it uses the same ports as the DSE and the Management Service. It is best practice to put this on a separate box.

3. Webdav - Can this be installed on the same server? and do we need ERG for this?

You can configure whatever port you want in your WebDav web service to avoid conflicts, so it is possible. I would recommend against installing additional services on your MobiControl servers however. ERG is only necessary if the WebDav server is not reachable outside of your network.

Thanks alot, regarding ERG can this be set to authenticate the devices against SOTI, so that no ldap integration is needed?

Hi Klaus,

ERG uses Port 443 to check against Management Server whether a device is registered or not. Access is only granted, if it is enrolled correctly.
