Is there any way to use a naming macro to automatically name Linux devices according to their hostnames? I have tried the "hostname", "TXT", and "INI" macros without success.

Hi Austin,
Thank you for posting on SOTI Pulse.
I've had a quick search internally and it seems the "%HOSTNAME%" is not working as expected on our Linux agent in some circumstances and we're planning on releasing a fix for the issue.
You'll see it logged under MCMR-35891 when you visit the release notes via https://docs.soti.net/soti-mobicontrol/linux-device-agent/release-notes/. The plan is to release it in our 2025 release.
With that in mind, I would suggest you raise this with us through https://soti.net/services/log-a-case/ and reference MCMR-35891 and ask if you can obtain a POC to confirm it works with your use case.
That will then ensure everything will work when its released into production as a new agent.
Hope this helps!

Hi,
Thank you for the help, I will reach out about obtaining a POC.
Because I will likely need to implement a solution before the 2025 release, I would welcome any suggestions for a workaround. As I mentioned, I have tried reading the hostname via INI and TXT files and using the respective naming macros, but those did not seem to be supported on Linux.
Thanks!
Hi Austin,
Kindly confirm if you have obtained a POC. We have released the MobiControl 2025 recently.
If you still have an issue. Kindly create a ticket with Soti Support using below URL.
