MobiControl Shows Wrong Device Storage Size on Zebra MC9300

Solved

MobiControl is showing incorrect storage usage information for enrolled Zebra MC9300 devices.

I'm trying to troubleshoot file sync rules to upgrade devices from Android 8.1, 10 & 11 to Android 13.

Old file sync rules that use to work in MobiControl 15 no longer work in 2024.1.2.1046

Device was factory reset with StageNow Barcode and enrolled with StageNow Barcode with SOTI recommended JSON file.

Exact Zebra model is MC930B-GSEDG4NA with 32 GB of storage on Android 8.1

Mobicontrol reports 16.26 GB/17.35 GB used

Device itself reports 14.44 GB of 32 GB is used

How can I correct this?

@Marcus SOTI support confirmed similarly for me. The available storage represents usable storage. The green bar was counterintuitive as I thought it represented capacity the same way as the battery level (more green = more free space) but is the opposite.

@Matt The issue was the OS file would fail to upload either via File Sync or via remote control folder view.

I missed including the below screenshot in my post, which suggested there was a failure on the cloud server copying the file from the 'File Manager' to a folder named 'SyncFileCache'. SOTI support corroborated this and resized our C: drive. What threw me off was we only had 3 files in the File Manager and no indication of a limit.

Thanks for your replies.

Hi Steve,

would made sense to open a case at Soti.

I can see that also for Honeywell and Zebra that it is showing other values.

Version 2024.* & 2025.*

Answer from Soti

The MobiControl Agent Reports only the Available Storage what the Agent can use and not what is free on the System.

When you go into the Sotrage manager on your device and Scroll down to "system" that is the displayed and available space what can be used.

What are the actual issues that you're facing with the File Sync rules? Even if the storage values are reporting incorrectly that is still plenty of storage to perform an OS Update. I'm curious what your actual problem is as it would appear that you might be chasing a red herring here.
