CN80 Unique Name

Good morning.

I have the following problem.
Our Honeywell CN80 are all in our certificate server with the same names.
It is about device licenses.

So either CN80 or CN8011 etc.

So I can't find out which certificate belongs to which scanner.
I have renamed the device and also given it a Bluetooth name but this has not changed.
I have also used the legacy script DeviceRename and no change.
Are there any other possibilities?

Try the JS way to do it:

mobicontrol.device.renameTo(Name);

But in general if your renaming never succeeds you may need to look into the device logs if there's an error shown after you send the command (maybe some kind of issue using the command). But if no error is shown you may look into it with the support as the command works fine for us a long time (we use both: legacy and JS command).
We see only sometimes some single devices issuing randomly but never to all.

With the JS Script the device ist in Soti MobiControl Renamed but on our certificates server is no change.

The legacy script command to rename a device within MobiControl is "devrename" and not "DeviceRename".

Regarding how your so-called "certificate server" gets/uses the name CN80/CN8011, check relevant documentation of that server, or consult technical support of that server product.

yes sorry for the mistake.
I meant devrename, of course

And there is no other way to change the HOSTNAME?

Check the Honeywell oemconfig app if it's providing this possibility.

For ex. the Zebra device can change it's device name (host name being visible in network) with their oemconfig app.

If Honeywell is not providing this functionality in their app, you may ask them to implement it but this will take time.

Hello,

yes the "Honeywell UEMConnect" provide oyu the following Options.

But the Possibility is very limited for configure the HOSTNAME automated.

When you configure it in MobiControl you can see the Following Possible Strings in the "info Popup":

[MODELNUMBER]-[SERIALNUMBER]-[MACADDRESS] for the HOST Name.

Comment what is the Same as in the Honeywell Provisioner (Hon Net Hostname):

"Prefix string for hostname, supported macros: [MODELNUMBER], [SERIALNUMBER], [MACADDRESS]." + "Do not contain any blank character and total length limit is 35."

But as you use managed app config in that regard you could just use %devicename% to use the device name from Soti to be used here.

We do the same like that for Zebra and Samsung in their oem apps.
