How do you stop Samsung Droid devices from asking for permissions during initiation & install of Mobi Control?

During installation of Mobi Control on samsung devices, I am being asked to approve many permissions. Thought that Mobi Control rules and application install would do this.

Permissions it is asking for are:

  • Please give draw over other apps permission
  • Please give write setting permission
  • Please give notification access permission
  • Please give usage stats permission

This is ONLY happening on samsung devices, and SOTI is telling me that you have to do this manually for all devices. Painful when you have to do it to 60.

Appreciate the help.

Hi Bill,

Thank you for posting in SOTI Central,

The OEM has the final say in how permissions are granted, MobiControl Agent will prompt you via the Pending Actions function if any permission needs to be granted manually. Due to the nature of these permissions, Samsung requires manual setup of them.

What we do recommend is to grant those permissions on enrollment, therefore the end-user will not be prompted in the future. In V15 we introduced the feature to select which device permissions are requested by the device agent during enrollment.

We've also introduced a way of installing a plugin if there's one available to the device. See the below for reference:

This is particularly useful for some OEM's because it gives us the ability to silently grant the permissions above.

Hope this helps.
