Good morning everyone,

Could anyone tell me if there is a way to enable the following "Advanced Permissions" on the MobiControl App on a Samsung Galaxy S7 through a script or Feature Controls?

Apps that can appear on top and Apps that can change systems settings

We are using Samsung Galaxy S7s, and Version: 14.2.2.1170 of Soti MobiControl MDM, and Version 13.8.0 Build 1047 of the MobiControl App.

Thank you for any suggestions that you can provide.

Hi Richard / Daniel,

Since the release of v15, you're now able to prompt specific permissions to be granted upon enrollment. You can set this through your Add Devices Rule.

"Apps that can appear on top" = Draw Over Other Apps

"Apps that can change systems settings" = Modify System Settings

I see there is similar discussion in a thread here:

https://discussions.soti.net/thread/please-give-draw-over-other-apps-permission/

The problem is that these phones are enrolled through Android Enterprise.

If the phones are owned by the company then the end user should not have to be involved in allowing these settings.

Just to add additional information in the devices

Android OS Version   8.0.0 (with the latest May 1st, security patch level)
Agent Version   13.8.0.1047
Android API Level   26
Remote Control Version   1.16.0.100

As far as I know, there is currently no script command or feature-control option to grant your mentioned permission for the device agent itself.

I don't know if Soti will release new AE device agents that automatically have all their required permissions granted by default in the future.

Hopefully they will release this ability for Enterprise owned devices to have these permissions applied automatically as it is counter productive to not have this in place with their own app.

Thanks Raymond

If the problem is still present... You can automate the process regarding setting permissions on samsung device with Samsung Knox Configure. In Samsung Knox Configure, you have the possibility to give apps different permissions, like the ones you are asking for. After enrolling the device, Knox Configure will give the permissions to the MC Agent. To use this function, you need a license for Knox Configure but if you have an EE-device, it's already included.

Good morning everyone,

To be honest I completely forgot about this post since it was over 1 year ago :).

We are still on V14.2 for Soti MobiControl and are currently testing the V15.2 which will have this new feature in it from the screenshot above.

This post can now be closed since this is covered in a settings update on the newest version.

Thank you to everyone whom has responded to this post.
