SOTI Identity as IdP for SAP, is it worth looking into?

We're exploring/brainstorming user-friendly SAP login on shared Android scanners (MobiControl, Lockdown, NFC badge login). The idea: add SOTI Identity as a Corporate Identity Provider in SAP Cloud Identity Services (IAS), so a badge tap at the Lockdown screen carries through to SAP via SAML SSO and no second login.

According to the SAP team, they will support any OpenID or SAML based IdP, so it's starting to sound somewhat promising. Does anyone have any technical input into using SOTI Identity as IdP for SAP (or another non-SOTI app)? Is this a viable path, or are we better off going directly with Entra ID (and Shared Device Mode)?

The approach you are exploring sounds interesting. SOTI Identity can be used as an identity provider with SAML-based authentication, so integrating it with a third-party application such as SAP may be possible, depending on the authentication and federation requirements supported by the SAP environment.

However, there are several factors to consider, particularly around the SAML configuration, user/device authentication flow, and how the NFC badge authentication from the MobiControl Lockdown experience would be passed through to SAP. We would recommend reviewing these requirements in more detail before confirming whether this would be the best approach compared with using Entra ID and Shared Device Mode.
