Lockdown Settings Manager; Wi-Fi scan shows no networks.

Hello,

I have an OU with an Android v11 tablet in there. I've recently installed settings manager but I'm unable to find any networks when scanning for them. The scan button will run and rotate as if functioning (with "stop" replacing the word if I need to cancel the search), then just revert back to the "scan" option again.

Incidentally, when I go into the administrator mode I can go to the regular tablet settings or notifications bar and said networks are visible and available to join, so there may be something upstream in terms of profile or package configuration I'm thinking?

Feature Control settings:

Allowed Wi-Fi management

Wi-Fi - Allow user to configure

Settings Manager:

Wifi Enable and Scan permitted

Try again, when lockdown is disabled (but still in user mode) for example with following script:

notify kiosk off

or just revoke the lockdown profile from the device.
If your scan is then successfull you have to add the relevant things to the lockdown template.

Hi,

Technical support at SOTI managed to confirm the issue was location services-based. This was off but apparently can cause a block of shown networks when scanning. Turning location services to "highly accurate" fixed that for me in this case.

Thanks

Hello,

Thank for your post Sam-L.

I tried to reproduce your settings with 2 different devices using MobiControl Versions 14.5 & 15.5:

Zebra TC 56 (OS 8) and ZTE A71 5G (OS 11).

In Packages, I created a new package with the .APK file downloaded from SOTI MobiControl download page, (see below screenshots). I did use Packet Studio to create a package for MC 14.5.

The following settings used in my Profiles (Feature Control & SOTI Apps(Settings Manger)) are the same ones as mentioned in your post. I also added Authentication profile with a Lockdown:

Feature Control (profile):
CONNECTIVITY tab
WiFi Management => Allowed
WiFi => Allow User to Configure

Settings Manager (profile)
In WiFi section
Enable => Toggle On
Scan => Toggle On
PACKAGES tab
PACKAGE NAME = net.soti.settingsmanager
VERSION = 15.6.0 Build7 (latest version)

Lockdown (profile) + Authentication (profile)
As per SOTI Help page, I copy Launch://net.soti.settingsmanager into the Package Name or Script File or URL field. (See below screenshot).

Note: Depending on your MC versions, you may have a drop-down menu to select Launch://, then under the blank field, paste net.soti.settingsmanager

Once the profiles have been created, I pushed the application to the test devices using the package via a profile.

From the Lockdown page on your device => select Settings Manager, when pressing the SCAN button, we should be able to find any nearby networks when scanning for them.

If your issue persists, you could raise a ticket with SOTI HelpDesk.

Below, I am sharing some links from the SOTI Help page:

Thank you.

Hello Sam-L

Thank you for your answer.

I am glad that you have managed to resolve your issue by changing "Location Accuracy" under Feature Control. You can confirm your post as resolved.

I am also sharing an article from SOTI Central regarding Google Location Services are not enabled on Android devices. It is explaining how to enable Location Services on Android devices using a script.

Thank you.
