Hi Jackson,

You are correct, in iOS, per app VPN is a native function of the iOS framework.

This can be done on Android through Android Enterprise. It’s would be done as a profile and VPN providers need to have the configuration to white list apps to use VPN.

ie. Cisco AnyConnect has the app config to white list apps that use its VPN service.

Hi Support,

Is it only work at version 14?  I try to set it up to do the test at version 13.4 and cannot find the white list apps.

Jackson

Hi Support,

I try version 14 and still cannot find white list at the VPN setting.  It only with pulse security and netmotion selection. At the setting, without any apps selection.

In the Enterprise portal for Google Play store you would have to look for VPN clients that have the ability to configure a per app VPN such as Cisco Anyconnect.  I will include a screenshot of the what to look for to identify which clients have this ability.  I have placed a red arrow pointing to how to identify which ones have the ability to configure this feature.   Then as you assign the profile to devices in the MobiControl Console, you can configure the client with the apps to use VIA bundle ID.

Per app VPN enabled VPN clients

Hi Jackson,

The Steps to follow to test this feature would be the following:

1. Create a Managed Enterprise within MobiControl from the Servers Tab under 'Global Settings -> Android Enterprise Bindings'.

2. Traverse to https://play.google.com/work and Approve the VPN application for your Enterprise.

3. In MobiControl Navigate to the Rules Tab and create a New Application Catalog Rule

4. Under the 'Add' Dropdown for applications select 'Managed Google Play Applications'

5. Search for your VPN application and click on the Advanced Button.

6. There will be a checkbox that says 'Enable App Configuration', once checked you'll see all of the configurations the App Developer has made available for this app.

7. In the image you'll see I've highlighted the field 'Apps to Tunnel', this is the field where this app developer has made it available for the Admin to enter in the Package names of the apps they wish to achieve Per App VPN with. (Image below)

8. Apply this Application Catalog Rule to the devices of your choice.
