Situation
Administrators can customize the default Management Service address using the MobiControl Admin Utility tool or directly in the MobiControl Settings database table. If the primary Management Server hostname within the MCIdpInfo table doesn’t match the Management Service address, the upgrade will not be successful and the MobiControl roles will not be available from SOTI Identity. This article explains how to ensure the Management Service address is reachable and has consistent information across the respective tables in the database.
Note: MCIdpInfo table contains rows for every Management server and Deployment server available.
Process Description
- In the MCIdpInfo table in the database, under the McIdpId column, ensure all rows have a valid hostname
Notes:
- A valid hostname is a fully qualified domain or publicly accessible IP address. (Ex: https://<hostname>.domain/MobiControl)
- To test that the endpoint is publicly accessible, use the ping or nslookup commands. If the endpoint is not publicly accessible, consult your administrator.
- Ensure that one of the hostnames within the MCIdpInfo table matches the Management Service address in the MobiControl Settings table.
Note: The matching hostname will be the primary Management Server - If the Management Service address was customized and does not match one of the hostnames in the MCIdpInfo table, manually update the custom Management Service address and set it back to its default value.
Note: Users can update the Management Service address via MobiControl Admin Utility tool or directly in the database. - After the upgrade, ensure all the rows in the MCIdpInfo table have a valid and publicly accessible FQDN.
Note: After successfully performing the upgrade, the Management Service Address can be set back to its prior customized value.
