Upgrade Required for SOTI MobiControl Versions Earlier than 15.2 for APNs API Support

Apple's deprecation of the legacy Apple Push Notification service (APNs) binary provider API will soon impact SOTI MobiControl deployment server extensions on versions earlier than 15.2.

In March 2021, Apple deprecated the legacy APNs binary provider API. As a result, SOTI MobiControl versions earlier than 15.2, which rely on this API, will soon be unable to manage Apple devices.

Action Required

To maintain device management functionality, upgrade to SOTI MobiControl 15.2 or later. These versions support Apple's new HTTP/2-based APNs API, ensuring continued communication with iOS, iPadOS, and macOS devices. For upgrade instructions, refer to the SOTI MobiControl online help.

Symptoms

• Devices may not receive critical push notifications from the MDM server (check-in, etc).
• Device management features such as app deployment, security policy updates, and remote actions fail.
