Hello,

I would like to know if there is a way to install the OS and skip the google set up. Then run the Mobicontrol agent install.  I have been able to install the OS(Android 8 Oreo from Android 7 Nougat) through Soti but any attempt to uninstall reinstall the agent and the OS via xml file didn’t work.  Also, I need to add the wireless network Enrollment ID back to the device. It seems the sdcard location is deleted when the OS installed.  I have Zebra TC51 devices. Agent v15.

Is there a way to do all of this so when the device reboots I can have install the agent and WiFi?  I was told that I couldn’t do this and that it would be a manual set up. Problem is, I need to deploy the OS and the agent to remote devices.

Any help would be appreciated

Hello Gregg,

I read two different questions:

* Enroll a new device without going thourgh Setup Wizard: You can do this in case of Zebra Devices with the help of a scanning a StageNow code created with the Zebra StageNow application

* Upgrade allready enrolled devices: as long as the android security patch level of the OS 8 image is same or newer then the installed Android 7 version, there isnt an enterprise reset happen, and the type of Android has to be the same (GMS 7 to GMS 8 or AOSP 7 to AOSP 8)

The device are currently non GSM Android 7 going to Android 8 GSM OS. I have tried with the Stage Now tool unsuccessfully. I am going to be doing this on remote devices. That is the reason I ask.

In this case (switch between GMS and AOSP) the devices have to do an enterprise reset. Second issue is that the devices where probably enrolled with Device Admin mode (OEM Agent) in Android 7, but this is no longer supported on Android 8 on Zebra devices, you have to use Android Enterprise.

MobiControl does support some special migration mode cwith certificates from Zebra to switch from OEM to Enterprise Agent, this involves Zebra Support.
