Managed Google Play is Failing in One Device

I have Managed Google Play Configuration in one Policy.

It seems failing in one of the 200+ devices we are managing without any reason. So apps are not updating.

I can see the bellow error into the log:

"Device configuration failed ([Android Enterprise Google Play Policy] Configuration failed to apply)"

I had similar problems with the Managed Google Play policies.

When i encounter problems with MGP i check the device and his MGP account.

You can do two things which helped me:

  • reset MGP account on the device via MobiControl Actions
This will delete the MGP account on the device and generate a new one.
This will delete all the installed apps by your app policy and re-install them all
  • clear the cache of the PlayStore
You can send a script command to clear the cache of the PlayStore. This helped
me back then when the device was not able to install any apps at all.
Just send the following command: wipeapplication com.android.vending

Hello Fortis,

Thank you for posting on SOTI Central!

As stated by Ozan, Could you please reset the account on the device and try again? Ideally, this should resolve the issue. Let us know once you try the suggested step!

Thank you!!.

Hi Fotis,

Were you able to test the above solution provided by Ozan.

I had the same issue.  I didn't see the issue until I went to Android 11 on my Honeywell devices.  In that group I didn't see the need to have Word, Excel, etc. apps so I setup a new policy with just 1 app (you need one app to apply the policy so I choose Chrome).

To fix it on a device.  I updated the policy to that group and then unenrolled on the devices (touch the enrollment status in the soti app and unenroll and then it will re enroll).

Hi, Did you ever try this?

Have the exact same issue with 1 of 393 devices and the suggested fix hasn't worked.

I did notice that this device is the ONLY device where the play store also fails to load. Going to factory reset and try again as this seems to be the last option.
