Is there a way to assign multiple random devices to a new group (already existing) programmatically or using an import or a script of some sort?

We have about 300 devices that are in random groups and we are trying to get them moved to one central group without having to manually find each one and click and drag them to the new group. Is there a more efficient way to do this?

You should be able to filter for the devices (maybe, as i don't know your deciding points on which device should be grabbed) and then mark all and drag and drop them all at once to the relevant folder.

Hi Katie,

What version of MobiControl you have?

On my Version: 2024.1.0.1052 i can click on "View All Devices" and move the whole group to another folder.

One can define search expression(s) for the server to automatically add targeted devices to a temporary virtual group tree, and then use an alert rule/signal policy with trivial condition(s) to relocate all devices from this virtual group tree to your final device group.

Alternatively, if one has a list of the device name (or serial number or other unique property), then program based on MobiControl RESTful api calls may be used to find all targeted devices to be moved to the desired destination device group.

Thank you for all the responses! We have random devices to search for in that there is no search criteria we can use to identify the specific devices we are looking for. The api calls will probably be the way to go. I found this one here but I am unsure how to turn this into a ps script. This is more involved than I know how to do.
