Retrieve information via MobiControl API

Hello,

We would like to retrieve some device information via the MobiControl API but can't find a related request.

1. Real time location of the device

We could create a data collection rule then retrieve data via the request : GET /devices/collectedData

But we hope there is a more direct and less restrictive way to retrieve this information.

2. System date and time

Also, is there a method to find out the time of the lastest device reboot ? (I did not find the event in the Device Event of Alert rule)

(MC Version: 14.3.3.1111 / Android Enterprise DO)

Thanks for posting your query!

Unfortunately, it is not possible to collect the real time location of the device through API. Instead, you can just locate the device if it is online or if there is data collection rule in place for location then a manual device check in will give all collected location data.

Regarding the latest device reboot time, the device logs will show when the device disconnected and connected, but will not list if it was because of reboot or network interruption. If a MobiControl user sends a "soft reset" command to device, then it will be recorded in device logs.

Hi Yaan,

Can you please explain in what scenarios do you need to retrieve the date and time of the device? Because most of the device information is available on the Device Details tab on MobiControl web-console, as shown below.

If needed, you can also set the device date and time according to your requirements. On the MobiControl web-console, click on the device > Configurations > Scroll down to Advanced Configurations > Time Synchronization and set the device Time Zone

This is a request from one of our customers who would like to use the console as little as possible and therefore integrate as much information as possible into his back office using API. So he needs to retrieve this information via API not via the console. Is that possible ?

Thanks for your prompt response.

To be more precise, in which occasion are you expecting to retrieve the date and time of the device?

Is that anytime of the day whenever the customer feels like getting the device information or during particular time whenever any function is triggered?

In case, if it is related to any device functions, please share the overview to have a clear idea of the situation.
