Whitelist Google URL Redirects

Hi,

We are trying to publish Google Sites using Soti Surf on a couple of locked down devices.

sites.google.com is already whitelisted.

Everything works well except when accessing external links on the sites pages. Google Sites replaces the direct links with Google redirect links that starts with "https://www.google.com/url?q=". For testing purposes, www.google.com has also been whitelisted.

Clicking on external links with the Google redirect links give the "access denied" error message. However, doing a long press on the links and choosing "open in new tab" works perfectly.

What else should be whitelisted to allow opening of links with Google URL redirects in this scenario?

Regards,

D.

Hi Dotun,

Thank you for posting in SOTI Central.

Can you clarify within your Google Sites page, the external links have the Google Redirect URL which ends with ?URL?q= and you're struggling to authorize those? Also to clarify if you open the link via new tab then it visits the intended link directly rather than the above?

If the above is correct, I suggest authorizing https://www.google.com/url?q=*. However, if that is fruitless you could temporarily disable the blocking and output browsing history (configable in SOTI Surf profile configuration), which will then show you the exact URL's being used, and then you can authorize the FQDN's via a wildcard.

Regards,
