SOTI on Raspberry Pie 4

I am trying to enroll a raspberry pie 4 running Emteria OS on to SOTI using Android Classic but I am having connecting to the device.

I have tried using adb but the OS isn't asking me to trust my system. I have also tried using wireless adb but when I type in the code, it errors out. I've notice that the default tranfers mode always goes back to "no data transfer". Also tried using the enrollment ID but it states it can't be enroll because it does not support encryption.

I've also tried installing an APK but can't install it because it states it's not compatible. I've reached out to support but we were unable to enroll the device.

Has anyone been able to enroll a raspberry successfully with Android classic? Any help would be appreciated

I expect as the error message you provide already tells, not being compatible.

What were the actual ADB command(s) used and error(s) got when you tried using Android classic device agent?

As the Emteria OS images for Raspberry Pi are based on Android 14/15,  my gut feeling is that there is a higher chance for Android-Enterprise device agent to be used (at least partially for a small set of MDM policies) successfully.  Have you ever tried enrolling with the Android-Enterprise device agent instead?

I have tried to do Enterprise and Classic. Both stating the device is unable to enroll due to the hardware not being able to support encryption.

For the adb command, I used ./adb devices to see the list of devices on my computer but it does not show any devices connected. When attempting to do wireless, it pings the device but eventually it's unable to connect. When I connect to cable to a computer it does not ask to trust the device. I have added some line on the config.txt file to make it the USB Connection type be file transfer but even so it does not asks to trust the device.

I have now tried this on both Android 14 and 15 with Emteria OS but both are unable to enroll.Wondering if there are any tricks that might be able to perform for enrollment on the device.

I had an idea why it's not compatible as we have seen something on a different use case but with "native Android" which was rooted by manufacturer.

I guess (and my searches via web seem to prove that) Emteria OS is rooted by default.

"...Root access rights to the Android device, apps and services..."

We got to know because of our usecase Soti Mobicontrol Agent doesn't allow to enroll on a rooted device this will be most likely the case here as well.

If Emteria is rooted, do you happen to know of an Andoid OS that's able to enroll on to SOTI using the pie hardware? I understand this might be a reach at this point but would be great help if this device can be managed through SOTI.

No, we don't use such devices.

A quick search would point to more like a container based Android (like WayDroid) on the Pie but I'm pretty sure that's not what you are aiming for.

I found an unofficial one based on LineageOS (which is normally not rooted) here: https://forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopic.php?t=392550

But always be careful on such custom builds but maybe reach out to LineageOS if they can build a fitting and supported Android Version for you, of course with costs.

And just to add here, maybe take a look onto Asus Tinker Board, they seem to have up to Android 14 available for the board 3/3s and shouldn't be rooted by default as well.

Maybe reach out to them for a POC and more information.
If you Google for something like that, there might be one or two more similar solutions (Orange Pi/ Rock Pie).

But as stated these are just findings, we don't use/tested any of these, so you need to do a deeper dive into possible solutions.
