Is there an issue with Android Enterprise Work Managed Enrolment?

Hi,

I've been trying to setup a couple of devices using the afw#mobicontrol (Zebra TC26 and TC57) over the last couple of days.

Setup as normal, used afw#mobicontrol after factory reset (tried a few times on each device), it gets to the option to install mobicontrol, starts downloading, then flicks to a black screen, and then when trying to continue through, just get 'couldn't connect - try again using another network. If you continue without a connection you can finish some setup steps later' only way I can get past this it to skip, then I get into android, play store is broken as I guess the afw#mobicontrol didn't setup properly, and all apps are visible (most get hidden with Enterprise enrolment)

It's obviously not our Mobicontrol as we don't get as far as entering an enrolment ID, and the only way to start the process again is to factory reset which gets the same outcome

Thanks

Alan

As I said a couple of hours ago in another thread at

       https://discussions.soti.net/thread/android-11-enterprise-enrollment-does-not-complete,

there seems to be device enrollment problem using hashtag approach for Soti and many other MDM solutions since this Monday (10 October 2022).   The symptom is exactly the same as what you described for many device models that I heard of from my customers.  There might be some bugs or changes  in Google's backend.   Such problem on some device models got fixed after latest firmware upgraded/patched.

Please retry enrollment using QR-code generated with the free "MobiControl Stage" app running on a parent provisioning Android device.   This seems to be a simple and quick solution for my customers'  cases for the time being.

Hi,

It seems that we can't use that way to deploy our devices.
I have the same issue as in this topic (SOTI Discussion Forum)

We have an offline only wifi. I host the .apk on de soti server in http. After scanning the QR code the device connects tot the wifi but never downloads the apk.

Alan, we are having this exact issue with our Spectralink devices. I think the point that the answers below miss is that MobiControl is not installing after entering afw#mobicontrol and as such we are never being presented any enrollment opportunities. I have opened a case with the SOTI Engineers.

Scenario: Spectralink 9540 and 9553 devices, after having been previously enrolled into SOTI, once wiped and deleted from SOTI MobiControl will not install MobiControl and are thus not able to be enrolled.

New out of the box devices running Android 8.1 install Mobicontrol, are able to be enrolled, wiped and then reinstall mobicontroll and enroll as a new device. In a nutshell the Android 8.1 devices are not affected.

Specifically:

Spectralink Versity 9540 and 9553 smart devices

OS Android 10

OEM Version apollo QKQ1.201230.002 2.5.2.1733

Android Security Patch Level 2022.07.05

Agent Version 15.2.4.1034

From the Hi there screen I press START, See All wifi networks, connect to my Wi-Fi at the google sign in page I enter afw#mobicontrol, at Android MobiControl Enterprise I select Install the download fails with a black screen and then I am presented with a copy apps and data dialogue

Hi De Johan,

For your QR-code enrollment on a closed network, have you configured the provisioning MobiControl Stage app where a target device should get the device agent .apk from your internal hosting server?

Well, I've got it working using Zebra Stagenow, scanning the barcodes straight after a factory reset, as a workaround

I don't think it's Android 11 related as I downgraded the TC26 to 10 and got exactly the same error

Hopefully this is fixed soon

Issue appears to have been resolved (or at least I've been able to successfully enrol using afw#mobicontrol this afternoon)

Should have been resolved as reported officially in the Soti article at
