Browserlinks in lockdown EXTREMELY SLOW

Since last agent update - Agent Version15.4.4.1063 - we have experienced problems with weblinks in the lockdown.

I think the lockdown uses it's own browser supported by Chrome engine (Can be wrong here).

When we run native Chrome out of lockdown it works perfect.

Problem occured with this agent or the one before.

How about a "web app" (https://support.google.com/work/android/answer/9147423?hl=de) instead?
This opens only some kind of dedicated Chrome Tab and should work the same if you would use Chrome directly which is not causing any issues as you stated out.

Thanks Rafael.
I solved it temporarily via Intent link and blacklist/whitelist but it is a function we still want. Anyone else experienced the samr problem last week?

I haven't done any tests nor heard any of my customers experiencing the same problems as yours, and thus cannot confirm if your problem is really related to the device agent.

But if I assume that your tests and conclusion are correct, then your problem shows the importance of doing  proper tests before proceeding to mass scale upgrade of device agent on production devices,  which I always advocate to my own customers in the trainings I deliver,   If the new agent has issues, one always have the option not to upgrade for existing devices, and new devices can still be enrolled with older but stable and functional version of the device agent.

Thank you Raymond.

We used to do like that but last two years we tried to keep everything updated instead.

Same with OS. Even feels like you shouldn't build packages anymore just connect the managed play and go. And it works really good apart from this time. But we have 50 other clients that are happy and updated without any work.

Hi Pelle,

Thanks for posting on SOTI Pulse and thanks Rafael and Raymond for responding to the post.

Lockdown doesn't have its own browser, it will use the default device browser. If you are using a SOTI Surf browser as a default and that particular URL is working in Surf if you remove lockdown, I would request you to use SAML- tracer tool and check if that particular website is redirecting to any other URL and that need to be added in your whitelist.

I would like you to suggest a workaround here to create a web app from the google play store which was suggested by Rafael above.

Please follow the steps below.

Go to app policy > Select Enterprise or Classic> Select Manage Google Play> Select Web App and make a web app with your URL

It will publish an application, and you can use that application bundle Id in the lockdown profile.

So, for your two web pages, you can create two web apps and put those two application bundle IDs in lockdown, and switch applications as per your requirements.

If that workaround helps, please mark this conversation as a solution.

Please find attached a screenshot for reference.

If you want us to troubleshoot further on this issue, I would request you to create a support case here and someone from the support team can help you out.

Thank you.

Kind regards,

We experienced this issue as well and got in contact with the SOTI Support instantly since it was causing major issues.

We tied it up to the 15.4.4.1063 version, but also the AndroidWebView.
Using AndroidWebView version 109.0.5414.117 it worked fine, but after I updated it to 115.0.57.90.138 it caused slowdowns again.

For what I know, their developers are looking into this.

We did a workaround and started using SOTI Surf instead and it works like a charm.
