Geofencing - Iphone

Hello,

I am trying to use Geofencing on our Soti fleet,
We have configured 2 alerts, one for entering the perimeter and one for leaving, to limit access to a business application.

We then created a Perimeter to perform tests, in the Location part to specify the geographical perimeter applied on the device.

The problem is that it is impossible to perform the first geolocation of the device with Soti.
I get an error on the server side, probably a problem with Bing Maps.
The localization is well activated on the Iphone, on the side of the Mobicontrol application the accesses have been given and the localization is well activated too.

Without being able to locate the iPhone for the first time, it is impossible to apply the geographical perimeter, and therefore to use geo-fencing.
Would you have a solution?

Thanks in advance

Sincerely

I am not sure why you use the word "FIRST" in your description.  Did you mean you manage to get some location data eventually on your test devices?

Also, I don;t  know what make you think your problem can be related  to Bing map issue.  It can be an issue when your location service port are not properly configured or the map license has not be properly enabled.

In fact, it is possible that your server cannot get any location data because your devices are in the wrong mode, or the device agents do not have permission to access location data.

In any case, I think you have to firstly confirm whether your MobiControl server can get any location data from the devices.  To do so, add a data collection rule to get location data every 5 or 10 minutes.  Check the "Collected Data" tab in for any location data from any of your test devices.

Hello,

First of all, thanks for your answer.

I was never able to collect any type of data from our Iphone Fleet.

I just configured a Data collection rule, will let you know if it helps.

I could see on the server side that there was an issue with Bing maps, that's why i thought it was related.

Thanks again

So,

Data collection seems to be working fine and i'm able to locate my device so thank you for the tip !

However, i need to have the app opened on the Iphone to be able to locate my device or see it online in the devices tab, otherwise it is disconnected as soon as i put the app in background.

The configuration of the app is "always on" for the location and use of the application.

Problem must be on the Iphone side.

Did anyone find a fix on Ios ?

Thanks in advance

Regards

Hello Matthieu

"However, i need to have the app opened on the Iphone to be able to locate my device or see it online in the devices tab, otherwise it is disconnected as soon as i put the app in background. "

That is the expected behavior. The Apple iOS devices are online only when the agent is in foregroud.

Hi Matthieu,

Thank you for contacting SOTI Pulse.

Unfortunately, as Edgar outlined, at this time we do not have this feature  I would like you to create a support case (click here) or call the SOTI Support team (click here) to raise a Feature Request so that our development team can look into this further and check if it would be a viable Feature and if it will be pushed to implementation.

Please keep in mind that this would not be an instant resolution as SOTI Product Team have to work internally with different departments to get this added. So, this may take weeks to months to get it included in the new build if the development feels that this would be feasible. Please follow the release notes of SOTI MobiControl to get an update on the improvements done on the new release.

If this post has helped you in solving your inquiry, I would request you to mark the particular comment as "is solution", so others may benefit from this information.
