Settings Manager for Android Enterprise(12)

Good morning,

i have added settings manager to our kiosk screen. This enables the end user to change wifi connections, bluetooth, and brightness. For some reason when the end user changes their brightness, as soon as you leave settings manager, the brightness will revert itself. this is an issue because our employees work outside, when the device is dim it is hard to see and settings manager will not hold it bright. Currently i have been going into admin mode on the tablet and going to the actual settings and adjusting the display there.

i have reviewed my profile and all the feature controls seem correct. what could be causing this issue?

What are the version and build numbers of your Settings Manager app?

What about the version and build numbers of your device agent?

I'm running into this same issue.  It looks like the "change device settings" is no longer an option with Android Enterprise.

We are running Settings Manager 15.1.0 Build6

Device Agent  15.0.0.1110

Samsung Galaxy Tab A's

Hi Jesse,

Thanks for requesting a response from SOTI Support Staff.

Could you please test by re-installing the SOTI surf application with v15.4.0 with latest Android agent available.

I'm not sure how the SOTI Surf application would help here?  The issue is with the Settings Manager app and not allowing the brightness setting to stick when exiting the settings manager app.

Hi Jesse,

Apologies for confusing the issue with SOTI surf, Assuming that these devices are in lockdown, is the option to "Disable settings changes" enabled in the lockdown profile?

Hi Jesse,

On Marshmallow (6.0) & above, to access System Settings we have to manually allow Change System Settings.
So, on clicking Display settings, Setting Manager is verifying whether this permission is granted to it or not.

Hi Jesse,

Thanks for waiting for the response from SOTI, I suspect that the device does not have permission for android.permission.WRITE_SETTINGS.Under such circumstances, Setting Manager will not be able perform any device setting operation successfully.

@Jesse Please check and confirm if the bellow permissions are checked in the Device Enrollment rule.
