We have about 50 Samsung Tablets that have been sitting in our storage room. We have enrolled them into soti. Our problem is that they have been sitting in storage so long, the updates have piled up. So far, I have not found a way to quickly get through the updates. Each device is taking about 4 hours. Is there a script we can send to the tablets to auto start updates or even skip to the latest update?

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for posting on SOTI Pulse!

Regarding the auto installation of OTA updates. We do have a script from our knowledge base that can assist with automating this.

writeprivateprofstring SystemUpdatePolicy SystemUpdatePolicy 1

apply SystemUpdatePolicy

This script will attempt to install updates whenever a new update is available. Once completed, you can send the script again with the SystemUpdatePolicy set at "0" to stop further updates if needed.

Let me know if this can work for you!

So, i understand you correctly that those devices are enrolled into Soti already and then where lying in the storage room for a long time?

If this is the case:
As far as these devices have no screenlock or SIM lock configured, you can schedule via update profile  an automated Update execution but I'm not sure how this will continue after reboot again. You need to test this.

If the devices are enrolled right now:
I don't think so there's a way around as long as they are enrolled with a data connection which can reach the relevant update servers.

Hi Daniel,

For firmware upgrade of Samsung devices,  skipping to the latest update is in general not supported in Samsung codes & backend, especially for their standard free upgrade services (as compared to their more sophisticated Knox E-.FOTO paid upgrade management services).
