I'm looking for an easy, ad-hoc method to remove a file from an Android Enterprise device using scripts. In the past, the "del" command was supposed to work, but no more.

Could you please elaborate what exactly you did to find out the "del" script command to be non-functinal in your case?
What are the version and build numbers of your AE device agent? And the active MDM api reported by your device agent?
My apologies, I performed more testing and I got it working. I suspect it was just a combination of mistyping and failing to refresh the SOTI Assist File Explorer screen. =/
