iOS profiles fail to deploy

Solved

I have enrolled an iOS device (iPhone 12, iOS 15.6) to MobiControl version  15.5.2.1003 but I have so far not managed to deploy a profile. The device has an enrollment type of "Device" ie is fully managed.

I have attempted to deploy a profile to set global proxy settings, and another to block an app. In each case I get the error:

Profile "profile name" version 1 failed to install, because all of its payloads cannot be installed.

I cannot seem to retrieve more specific error details than this. It feels like something is fundamentally broken but I have no idea what, and no idea how to disagnose the problem!

So just to update and close this, after some playing with debug log settings we finally noticed an error indicating that the failures were due to the devices not being in supervised mode.

Wiping and rebuilding after configuring supervised devices has fixed the issue.

For future reference, it would be useful for the error detail to bubble up in to the log entries available from the device info view, if this is technically possible?

Hello Phillip,

Thank you for your reply!

I am glad to hear that the issue has been fixed, please feel free to mark this post as solutioned.

Regarding logs: I will bring this up internally, however, as of right now, whenever more information is required, it is always a good practice to reproduce the issue and then take a look at the server Verbose logs or device logs (depending on the issue). Those logs provide you with more detailed information.

Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions in the future.

We haven'T enrolled iOS devices now but we currently looking into MAC and there have been minimum oene default profile needed which should be assigned to them to work with them as expected.

I know there are 2 default profiles for Apple devices also, i assume they are for iOS because there's no "macOS" tag in the name. Hope you haven'T deleted them and check if they are able to be assigned to your devices.

Should be "App Catalog" (maybe not needed) and "Profile Catalog" (i think could be needed). I think it could be worth to try. We don't have these profiles anymore, so i couldn't tell you what's configured there but maybe this will help you.

The 2 default Apple/ios profiles are assigned to the device.

Test profiles are still failing to install. Application run control is now failing with status "ignored".

Hello Philip,

Thank you for posting on SOTI Central!
Please confirm:

1. How many devices are affected?

2. Is there a device that is able to successfully install that Profile?
If yes, what's the difference between the working and non-working device?

3. Is your instance hosted on-prem or on cloud?
If on-prem, you can change log settings to Verbose in MobiControl Admin Utility -> Reproduce the issue and then check by that time stamp to see if there are any errors.
