Automatic restart after a new certificate has been applied

Good afternoon,

I need to apply a new certificate authority with its new template to my devices. I already did it and it is working:

The old template is "Bata OnRetail Prod CA", the new one is "Bata onRetail". The new template will generate a new certificate which will replace the old one.

The problem is that the application which will have to use the new certificate needs to be restarted in order to for the user to be able to select it.

Is there any way to authomatize the application restart as soon as the new certificate has been applied?

It would be ok to just kill and restart the app or to restart the whole device, both ways are ok.

I know there are some scripts which do this, but I don't know how to tell MobiControl to execute them only after the new certificate is applied.

The instance version is: 15.4.1.4828

All devices are Honeywell EDA51 devices, Managed Work devices, with agent version 15.3.0.1006.

Can you help me?

Depending on your MobiControl server version, script commands required and properties associated with your new certificate, you can use the following general approach with appropriate parameters accordingly.

Define a virtual device group filter for MobiControl server to find and add devices with the new certificate to the new virtual device group, and then use a file-sync rule with pre-script defining your required kill/restart operations to target this new group.  An alert rule which then automatically relocates each processed device to a final "done" virtual device group to make sure the script is only run once for each of the device added to the virtual device group with the certificate filter.

Alternatively, you can create a profile with Task Scheduler configuration and include a post install script to restart the device when you believe the certificate is installed.
