Andriod/Lockdown/sdcard Question: Any way to Script USB Access to only transfering Pictures?

We have Android tablets in lockdown (Soti Surf, Gallery, Camera, and Soti Settings are the only apps used) and have allowed USB access to the sdcard to pull pictures or videos by turning on USB sharing and USB Debugging allowed.  We just want to keep the setting of transfering photos only (gives access to DCIM and Pictures folder).  Every time the device is rebooted it switches back to the default of showing all the folders in the sdcard (when you plug it into a pc to pull data).

Thanks

As far as I know, there is currently no such fine control at the file-system/folder level.  Android 11+ do impose more restricted app read/write access permissions for some supposedly public/shared data folder and for AV/media files, but  that is not totally dynamically manageable with MobiControl script at the moment.   Different types of apps may need to be modified to support finer folder/file-type control for these shared folders according to Google's Android/AE guidelines/ n the future.  An example would be Soti Surf secure browser app, which already has associated profile payload options to configure download directory and handling of files with targeted file name extension(s).

Hi Phillip,

Thank you for posting on SOTI Pulse!

Just curious, when the device reboots you say that they have access to all of the folders in the sd card. Before the reboot, how were you preventing the users from accessing the other folders?

As of right now, MobiControl does not have this level of control for accessing certain folders when USB sharing and debugging is allowed.

Perhaps you can raise a case and have a feature request done.

Kind regards,
