Being kicked out of apps on lockdown.

Specifications:  Samsung S21 5G devices.  Android version 13 / One UI version 5.1. MobiControl version 15.5.0.1021.

Seems with the latest phone update (One UI or Android), my drivers are now randomly being kicked out of apps.  This does not log them out of app, just kicked out to the home screen. My drivers have noticed that after the latest update is when they have been started to get kicked out of apps.  Prior to the latest updates, we have had no issues at all.

For testing I have Administratively removed the lockdown on a few of our devices.  My drivers that have been using these specific devices have had NO issues in getting kicked out of apps.

Has anyone seen this type of issue?

Are the affected apps native apps or web apps?   If they are web-apps,  what browser is used to run them on each of the problematic devices?

Are the problematic devices using Native or Activity Suppression mode in the associated "lockdown" profile payload?  What other options are chosen in the Device-Control tab of the "lockdown" profile?  Does the kicking-out event occur only AFTER certain key(s) or gesture or timeout event?

These are apps from Google Play store.

These devices are using Activity Suppression.  Other settings within Device Control:  Notifcation sound - off, Allow Status Bar Expansion- on, Revert to Kiosk Mode- off.

Drivers have mentioned there is no specific key stroke or process they do that makes this happen.

What version of the Android Enterprise Agent? My initial guess is that the Agent is crashing and reloading in the background which is forcing the lockdown to reload into the foreground, giving the appearance that your apps are crashing. I have seen this behavior before with bad agent versions. The fact that disabling the lockdown has removed the issue is further evidence of this.

Android Enterprise Agent:  Work Managed Device (I think is what you want).

I do not understand why this was working just fine, then there was a phone update and now having issues.

Is this happening only to specific app(s)?

Maybe with the update something changed so you have to put some system or "sub" apps as hidden items to the lockdown (because they are "called" by the main app) but i think this would be hard to find out.

Thinking of bluetooth "app" (com.android.bluetooth), phone app etc..

So, app was tried to start by the device or currently opened app, can't run because of lockdown profile (and not added to it) so, the current running app is just put into background and you see again the kiosk screen. Outside of lockdown, these apps would just be opened.

Just an idea even i think it's already being investigated by you.

At first we thought this was a single app issue- "DT" Dispatch Track but then my drivers informed me that happens to other apps also.

Hello,

I have spoken to a MobiControl tech on another issue I am having, so I brought up this issue.  Within Feature Control, we turned off Allow Doze Mode and assign to device.

I have not heard anymore issues from my drivers, but I will need to speak with the drivers that have been having this issue to see if it still occurs.

Thank you
