Flashlight Shortcut Kiosk Mode

Hi Everyone,

I am searching for an opportunity to create a shortcut for the flashlight in a lockdown.
This only belongs Zebra devices with Android 13 in my case.
Maybe in the future also M3 Mobile SM15X devices.

Does anyone have an idea how to create such a shortcut?
As I saw it correctly the flashlight isn't an application itself.

Hi

I have also done some research and in my opinion, there are two options:

  1. You can find an app that provides this functionality (a third-party-app)
  2. You can enable it through the Soti Settings Manager. This should be available from version 2024.0.0 onward

HI Ömercan,

Thanks for your great idea.
Third Party App is not allowed in this scenario.
Do you know if there is something like an intent to activate and deactivate the Flashlight.

Never tried but you could integrate that into your lockdown via javascript maybe:
Torch js
But as said, i never tried it by myself.

Hi,

I'm not sure whether it works or no but If you know the bundle id (you can check out from the Device details -> Application -> Search section) you may try below syntax:

enable_system_app appBundleID

I think the torchlight function is part of the camera and doesn't have an own apk/bundleID. But I may be wrong.

Hi Rafael, you are right.
I already searched for the bundle ID but I think it's like a build in function of the camera.
I'll have a look at the Java Script Idea.

Hi Leon,

Google imposes restriction that an app having control over the flashlight need to have granted app permission to use camera.   There are actually many small, safe and ad-free flashlight/torch open-source app downloadable on the internet.  I don't know why you do not consider using such app, which should be cleaner and more secure than using javascript in your kiosk template, especially if you do not have the relevant expertise in html/CSS/javascript and MobiControl kiosk mode/renderer.

Hi Raymond, thanks for your reply.
In the best case I search for an opportunity to just have a On/Off Button in the kiosk mode.

At the moment we use the Settings Manager as a workaround.
