Android: How to associate Datawedge profile with Lockdown Browser app

I have TC52x devices running Android 10 that are utilizing a custom Lockdown screen. I have a request to add a new link on the lockdown screen to an ordering website (not app) and it requires a new datawedge configuration.

I've noticed the lockdown opens the website in what I'm guessing is a proprietary Mobi browser. Does anyone know the mobi browser app name so I can add it to 'associated app' in my datawedge profile?

When an app is in the foreground on a device you can send the identify_activity script and the activity will be reported back in the device logs in SOTI. I recommend you launch the app / web page on a sample device and then send that script so that you can confirm what is registered as the app bundle ID and activity name.

Thanks for the tip. I opened the website in the lockscreen and ran the script which returned the following: net.soti.mobicontrol.androidwork/net.soti.mobicontrol.lockdown.kiosk.KioskActivity

In the datawedge app association, I see the 'net.soti.mobicontro.androidwork' but I don't see the second part, 'net.soti.mobicontrol.lockdown.kiosk.KioskActivity' as a listed activity. I tried using the * to capture everything under net.soti.mobicontro.androidwork but it didn't work.

Since there was no associated app available for the kiosk lockdown, I ended up applying the changes to the 'default' datawedge profile as a work around.

We have the same problem..

Zebra TC72 Android 11. Running in lockdown mode..

It has always worked with Associated apps * net.soti.mobicontrol.androidwork

but now it has stopped working.. I don't know why.

The barcode laser doesn't even turn on when the user is pressing the scan button..

PS! It works also for me when I restore datawedge to factory reset.

its working with:

HE_FULL_UPDATE_11-16-05.00-RG-U11-STD-HEL-04

not working from:

HE_FULL_UPDATE_11-20-18.00-RG-U00-STD-HEL-04

also tried with version --> still not able to scan

HE_FULL_UPDATE_11-26-05.00-RG-U00-STD-HEL-04

within soti surf it works fine.

To enable QR-code scanning within lockdown on Zebra devices, go to DataWedge - default profile - QR code launch options - launch QR codes.

Hi,

my production Scenario is Zebra VC80 (Android 8) and i can scan in lockdown kiosk.

Recently i received new Zebra VC8300 (Android 11) and i faced with this problem. Scan doesn't work on lockdown kiosk screen.

I think i find the root problem. Before you apply soti Mobicontrol Lockdown, check Datawedge Launcher Profile. Soti Mobicontrol is not in the application list and the scaner works great.

After you apply the lockdown the scan doesn't work on the lockdown kiosk, only works if you open some application.  Therefore if you check the Launcher profile again in the datawedge application, you could see that the "net.soti.mobicontrol.lockdown.kiosk.KioskActivity" are in the list of allowed applications. If you remove the Soti from the list Scan works again until you restart. If you restarts, Soti adds himself to the Launcher applications list again.

I find a workaround that it is valid in my case. I removed the Launcher Profile. You could remove it from Stagenow or by the sendintent command:

sendintent -b "intent:#Intent;action=com.symbol.datawedge.api.ACTION;S.com.symbol.datawedge.api.DELETE_PROFILE=Launcher;end"

I do not know if i will found another issues related to remove Launcher profile. I think that it works because in case you do not have a custom profile associated to a some application you will use the Default profile0 instead.

I wasted two days with this matter, i hope it could help somebody with same problem.
