ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID while enrolling

Hello Soti Team,

I am currently trying to further automate our installation of Honeywell CT60 devices.

I have used the wizard "Soti Android Enterprise Enrollment Ethernet/WWAN" via the Honeywell Provisioner.
I have set the address (http://soti.net/apk/ae2) for downloading the agent and our enrolment ID.

The agent should then be downloaded, installed and connected, shouldn't it?
Unfortunately, we can only get as far as the installation.

When I start the Mobicontrol Agent, I have to enter the enrolment ID manually.
I also have to confirm Google Chrome afterwards and agree that it is not a secure connection. Then I have to click continue (the button doesn't look right either).
The agent should then connect. But it doesn't always, sometimes the agent crashes and I have to try 3-4 times.

So the question: Why doesn't the device connect automatically with the QR code?
And what can we do so that the warning that it is not a secure connection no longer appears?

Good morning,

yep, Version: 15.5.0.1021.

Not sure anymore if we had the same issue with Version 14. Havent installed many devices back then.

Best regards

Maik

I mentioned that problem to the support team. Their response to this is:

The product team has identified this issue and is working towards providing a fix in MobiControl 15.5.1.

This "extra" step came with 15.5.0 and is affecting all android enterprise devices.

After starting the registration process it opens the default browser... in your case
Google Chrome. That's why you get the welcome screen for Google Chrome because
it got launched for the first time.

So we have to wait for 15.5.1 to get rid of that extra enrollment step.

Hi Ozan,
Thank you for the update.
Does that mean that you can't automate the step because Google Chrome goes up for all android enterprise users?

The message that the connection is not secure can't actually be correct regardless, can it?

Best regards

Maik

Hey Maik,

yes i am no longer able to automate that process because of that extra step.
When you are unlucky and try to enroll devices with no default browser then you
are not able to enroll the devices because of the missing browser.

The message about the insecure connection is shown because you have no valid
SSL certificate for your mobicontrol server. I get the message on servers with no
SSL certificates.

Hi,

okay, thanks for the information. Then I have to wait for the next mobicontrol update then.

With the SSL Certificate it feels strange but thanks for the hint. Unfortunately, I dont have access to the server itself but this is something I can discuss with our IT.

Thanks and have a nice weekend

SOTI released 15.5.1 and it fixed the enrollment problem. There is no extra step anymore when enrolling android devices.
