Force auto logout of MS applications

Is there a way to enforce autologout of MS apps using the native android activity timer.  We have shared devices that use MS apps, teams, outlook and another custom app that authenticates to Azure and we want to ensure that if a user forgets to log out that the device will after a period of time lapses.

For your required type of INTERNAL app features on Andorid-Enterprise/Apple device mode that supports the AppConfig industrial standard framework, your best bet is to check if there is any related app configuration parameter [in the Advanced tab of the app item in the relevant MobiControl Apps-policy/App-Catalog rule] that fits your use case.   The technical support team or online documentation of the app should be consulted to find out the details (e.g. key name, supported values, limitations, expected behaviour, etc.), especially for Apple device because MobiControl latest web-console UI requires administrator to input the key/value in strict XML file format from scratch.

If there is no solution with the above approach, the only possible DIRTY and brute-force solution on Android non-shared device is probably to kill the running app with script, which might result in app data loss and definitely does not look visually pleasing to any device end-user.  Thus, it is not recommended to use this approach.

Interesting is that Raymond wrote "...on Android non-shared device..." but there's nothing regarding that in your post and @Daniel the best solution would be maybe to use really the opposite: "shared device" with login screen.

Additional I think you should look into the AD user accounts if you can configure something like that from this site (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/user-session-management) but in general such apps are designed to save the login because normally a device is used only by one user/account.

Automatically logging out the WHOLE device with MDM shared-device log-out mechanism to log out a PARTICULAR app will likely result in bad user experience, especially when the app time-out and device time-out intervals are different and the device is not configured to restrict end-user to use only one single app (i.e. single-app mode/single-entry lockdown menu).

As mentioned in my previous post in this discussion thread, the simplest and proper way is to check if the app currently supports AppConfig compliant configuration of  timed log-out.  If not, may be you can contact the tech support team of the app to file a feature request.

Hi Daniel Christian,

Thank you, for engaging with SOTI Pulse. We appreciate your participation, Raymonds and Rafael, for providing responses to the post.

Currently, our shared device mode does not support the automatic logout feature after a predefined time period on Android devices. However, I'm pleased to inform you that this functionality is set to be included in the upcoming release of MobiControl 24.

With this new feature, users will have the ability to enable an automatic logout after a specified duration on Android devices.

This feature offers several advantages:

- Authenticated users will be automatically logged out once the admin-defined time period elapses. This ensures that even if a user forgets to manually log out, the system will handle the logout process.

- Applications containing sensitive corporate or personal information will not be accessible to subsequent users if the previous user fails to log out after their session.

Hi AMMOD,

Is Mobicontrol 24 a new add-on like xsite or an upgrade to MC server? Also are you able to share the rough releasedate (month) for this feature.

Thanks

Adam
