allow MobiControl to modify system settings - Zebra MC3300 - Android 8

hi all,

I have a question about Mobicontrol.

I would like to give Mobicontrol acces to modify the system settings.

this without a user interaction. Do you know if this is possible via a Stagenow script or is there any other way to get this done?

popup we got into the lockscreen

this is the message after pressing the popup

this is what we want to enable via a stagenow script or any other solution within Mobicontrol.

so without a userinteraction.

Thank you in advance!

kr,

Robbert

Do you have a plugin installed on the device?

hi Rafael,

thank you for the quick response.

Yes, we checked "Deploy Latest Plugins to Device" in our enrollment policy.

Yes, but can you confirm that the plugin was actually successfully installed? We typically do not rely on that option in our enrollment rules and install the plugin directly via package as soon as the devices enroll because of inconsistencies with the plugin delivery service.

hi Matt,

when i check the logs i see:

Successfully installed device plugin "sotiandroidplusmdm-service-zebra-androidPlus-1.6.0.102Hawkeye.APK" on device.

don't know if there is another way to check this.

Then it's maybe an issue with the plugin itself when used on this device.
Looks like a need for investigation together with Soti so they can look into that together with you and maybe with Zebra as well.

The same happens with Android11 and Android 13

Hi Robbert,

ZEBRA is not able to grant the "Allow modify system setting" permission automatically. It doesn't matter, if there is a plugin installed or not.

On our Android 10 ZEBRA TC21 devices, this is the only thing which prevents us from providing a completely automatic staging process.

Maybe consider, if you really need this permission or if you can configure the settings with ZEBRA MX instead.

This is the first step for our IT department after enrolling the device into SOTI, manually modify the system settings and notification permissions :)

Hi Willem,

this is also something we doubting about. Now the scanners will fall in a "lockdown group" maybe we need to think of a middle step before indeed. Should be nice if there was a way to push this via FE stagenow or something.
