Smart View on kiosked Samsung device

Hello,

I can't find a way to allow users to cast their screen to other device using Smart View.

Our Galaxy Tab S6 Lite does include the preinstalled app, but I can't make it work.

I added the app on the kiosk, it appears correctly but says "package not found" when pressed.

I then tried to send this script in legacy mode :

enable_system_app com.samsung.android.smartmirroring

with no noticeable change.

Can someone help us with that please ?

Kind regards

Is the app listed in the applications tab (in the console - device details) of the device and which state (uninstalled/installed) has it?

And how does your lockdown entry look like?

Hi, i tried it and got the same result but if you run this app and then send the legacy script:

identify_activity

You will get: com.samsung.android.smartmirroring/.CastingActivity

I changed the lockdown item to this and it worked. Check if the entire functionality is given, i don'T have a device to share to, to check this also.

Hello Rafael,

Thank you a lot again.

I tried to put what you got in the lockdown item and now it says "activity not found".

Surely I must use the script identify_activity, but I tried and I don't know where to find the answer of the script.

Can you help me with that too ?

This script seems very useful, I would be very grateful if you can explain me how to use it.

Thanks again !

I assume the result should appear in the logs panel, but I got no information showing :

I think you misunderstood. Just replace your kiosk item "com.samsung.android.smartmirroring" with "com.samsung.android.smartmirroring/.CastingActivity" and this should work.

But yes you should see the result of the script in the logs. You use that the script like:

  1. Open remote control on a device
  2. Start the app you want to get the (bundleid/)activity from
  3. run this legacy script via console
  4. lookup the result in the logs of the device

Hi Rafael,

Thanks again for your help.

I think I did exactly what you said :

As a result, the icon is correctly appearing but it says "Activity not found".

I can't use Remote control on those device (don't know why) so I am using the "send script" option in the device menu.

I'm guessing that should have the same result, but as I said earlier, nothing shows in the log menu.

Also, I tried on another device where remote control works fine, and I can't find the console you are talking about on the remote control panel.

I did have a look at the android debug files and fund the string "com.samsung.android.smartmirroring/.CastingActivity" many times, so i'm guessing this the correct one.

I also fund the string "com.samsung.android.smartmirroring/com.samsung.android.smartmirroring.CastingActivity" so I tried with this on the lockdown menu, with no luck (same result : "Activity not found")

(sorry for the french screenshots and lousy translations by the way)

Console = Mobicontrol in your Browser window

But yes, your setup looks similar to mine and that did work well.
I currently lost what the difference also could be on your side.

My test device is a Samsung A50 on Android 11.

Hello,

It didn't work on the test device I used (still can't say why),
but it worked correctly on the devices used for production !!

test device (NOK) : Samsung Tab S8 - SM-X700 - Android 13

production device (OK) : Samsung S6 Lite - SM-P613 - Android 12

So, thanks again for your help !

I'd like to figure why it didn't work on the device I used to test the thing (and get the logs too, so I'm pretty sure it's the same activity name).

Also, still no response to the identify_activity legacy script in the SOTI console logs, even on the working device.

It could be somehow related to Android 13 but i don't have A13 devices here to check that.
