Hi All,

We created a pofile with a package included. The app is installed fine. The user does uninstall the application but Soti does not

recognise this and application is not forced again to be installed.

Is there an option to let Soti Evaluate and if something is missing will be pushed agaian to device? Can''t seem to find this setting in the management tool.

Thx

What are the build and version numbers of your MobiControl server?

What platform is your problematic device?  What firmware version?

Mobi Control 14.1.5.1284

Zebra WT6000

Nougat + Latest security patch 7.1.1 security patch 5-5-2019

I can reinstall it as an admin. But iám looking for the feature where Mobi Cotrol wil evaluate and does see it's not installed anymore.

After that push it again and get it installed so we have  compliancy.

What are the active MDM API's reported in the configuration tab of your device agent?

Profile -> Installed (automatic) , on the device same status notification in the agent.

I am asking you what are the active MDM API's reported in the configuration tab of your device agent? You can also find them in the information tab associated with your device icon in the web console.

So, you are using Android Plus device agent on a Zebra device enrolled to a MobiControl v14 server.

In your web console, you can click on your device icon, go to "Profiles" section of the "Configurations" Tab, select the profile in which the uninstalled pcg package was previously used for deployment, click on the right arrow and browse the list of apps included, and then click on the three-dot button for the pcg package item of interest, and select "Force Package Reinstallation" to get your package reinstalled.

If you are using Android Enterprise device agent in managed-device/device-owner mode, then it is possible to disallow such manual un-installation of deployed pcg package for all supported brands/models.  There is virtually no similar function for Android-Plus device agent except for Samsung.

Based on this comment:

"I can reinstall it as an admin. But iám looking for the feature where Mobi Cotrol wil evaluate and does see it's not installed anymore"

I think Patrick is more looking for a method through which SOTI can actively monitor a condition on the device to automatically force-reinstall an application if it is removed.

Looking purely at the technical capabilities of SOTI, You might be able to get creative with a Virtual Group that is filtered by devices that have and/or don't have a particular app version installed then have a File Sync Rule + a Zebra AppMgr MX config for installing an APK in order to accomplish your goal.

With that being said, the scenario where an IT admin removes an app manually via Profile Unapplication and then expects SOTI to automatically reinstall that app seems like an extreme edge case. I personally wouldn't want to make other management sacrifices just to handle that rare scenario.

If I remember correctly,  pcg package uninstalled by device end-user did get monitored by the server during scheduled updates and reinstalled automatically in older MobiControl versions where pcg package were deployed with package deployment rule rather than within profile.  This is no longer the case for more recent versions of MobiControl.     Pcg package uninstalled by MobiControl administrator (i.e. initiated from web-console) did not get automatically re-installed in scheduled updates in any case.

As silently pushed apps from pcg package should be considered as managed apps and should NORMALLY not be allowed to be uninstalled in a company-owned work related device,  the current trend seems to be to give administrator the option to disallow an apk deployed with pcg package from being uninstalled by device end users, rather than wasting bandwidth to regularly monitor, re-transmit and re-install any uninstalled package. As mentioned in my previous post, this has already been implemented for AEDO devices.

Thx all for your anwers. Really appreciate it.

I was indeed looking for a "actively monitor a condition" but that seems not being available at least in an easy way.

The devices the customer does use, Zebra WT6000 are not capable of running the android enterprise agent. In this way

it looks like we will miss some functionality from a management point of view. Although i find it hard to find the right documentation and comparison matrix between all options in the two types of agents.

We are looking into deploying this device more secure , no space for human errors etc. The device is used in a warehouse with primary only Citrix Workspace app needed. We deploy a package succesfully , but would like to add some application permissions automatically. The users in warehouse now have to allow 4 times ( allow access to media, photo etc.) for this application when started for first time.

Please create another post/thread on the app permissions issue and we can provide suggestions.
