I am attempting to script our end devices to adhere to a setting of the administrative choice. Currently, settings in mobicontrol permit the device to have 5 minutes of inactivity before locking out. Some of the forums suggest the following script:

Writesecuresetting –sys screen_off_timeout 120000

Applied as a legacy script, this doesn't have the desired effect of changing the timeout, but I'm guessing it should? I saw that write permissions may be blocking this kind of execution, does that impact a write script even from the mobicontrol console?

"Write Settings" permissions, which were PREVIOUSLY always automatically silently granted for Samsung MobiControl device agent itself, DO impact the writesecuresetting script command even if sent from the MobiControl console.  

However, your problem MAY be partly due to removal of some KNOX runtime libraries from the device firmware image by Samsung in some of its low-end device models.

Take a look into OEM config app from the manufacturer of your devices to get this done.

Regarding Samsung: Or if you are already on 15.6.1 this is integrated and can be send as profile (take a look into the available profiles).

Thank you all for your posts,

As suggested in SOTI MobiControl Help Page, please use this command with caution.

You may also use the OEM Config app from Samsung named Knox Service Plugin from the Managed Google Play Store.

After creating an App Policy and downloaded the app form Managed Google Play Store, under Dex customization profile (Premium) you may Set screen timeout and enter in value in seconds.

(As for the maximum limits for the timeout, that may depends on the device itself). As you can see in the below screenshot, you do need Knox Licenses from Samsung to use that feature.
