Zebra Battery Swap with MobiControl Lockdown

Running Zebra TC72.

I tried to figure this out with Soti Support, but we were only able to get this working if we manually activated the device as an admin before going into KIOSK mode. I would prefer this not to be a manual process if I can enable this through a package or something.

I followed the script in this thread but the application asking to activate the device just launches and just disappears.

It looks like we have to ‘activate this device admin app’ before we use it. Is there anyway we can figure out how to do that without manual intervention?

After it's activated the application being in the KIOSK Apps, allows this to run just fine.

You may be able to leverage the following script. I just tested this on an AEDO managed TC52 running Android P and it was unsuccessful however. May have more to do with the DA deprecation in P though than anything so you might have success on O.

afw_set_permission_grant_state com.zebra.hotswap android.permission.BIND_DEVICE_ADMIN allow

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately this did not work for me:

"afw_set_permission_grant_state com.zebra.hotswap android.permission.BIND_DEVICE_ADMIN allow"

I started to see the same behavior (launching and disappearing) on our TC70x devices last week, until then it worked fine. There is no recent changes on our MobiControl server or battery swap package that I can relate the issue to.

Activating as admin before going to Kiosk mode was the only action that worked to get the Battery Swap app running.
