Device unenroll completed at console level but not at device level.

I have a device (Samsung TabE) that was un-enrolled from the console for the purpose of releasing the device back to the user but the un-enroll did not appear to happen completely at the device.  The device was online at the time the un-enroll action was sent.  It shows as un-enrolled in the console, but the tablet still has our custom kiosk screen active.  When exiting the kiosk screen and opening the MobiControl application on the tablet, it shows a status of "Enrolled" and "Disconnected".  The device is confirmed as having an active Internet connection.

How can I get this device un-enrolled properly?  The user needs full access to the device as soon as possible to install their own applications for a govt mandate.

Hello

If you enrolled the device with the mcsetup.ini file, you need to delete that file in the device because the agent will read it again and will re-enroll.

Hope this helps.

Hi Edgar,

We have never deployed using the setup file as we've downloaded APK directly to tablet and enter enrollment ID.  There were 36 other devices we un-enrolled during a similar time frame and all of those un-enrolled successfully.

Thanks

Why don't you try "deleting" the device on the web-console while the device is on-line?   The kiosk menu should be gone almost instantly, and a prompt to input an enrollment ID/URL will be shown.  Just ignore it, and uninstall MobiControl device agent app if you want to save space.

I recently experienced this issue. My device is Samsung A01 run on Android 10, i enrolled it with AE.

I unenrolled the device from console, through device details i can see Device Mode : Unenrolled By Admin.

But from the device, the policy still there. I know it since Factory Reset button is still disabled.

Anyone experienced this issue before?

Hope someone can help.

Thanks & regards,

If you have properly unenrolled a device, one more device license should be available after the unenrollment process, which you can check from your MobiControl web-console to confirm if the unenrollment is completed.

To completely release an AE device in managed-device mode for use as a personal device without any MDM, it might be simpler to initiate a device wipe operation on the device.  If you just initiate an unenroll or delete operation, the device might remain in a state waiting for user to do something to  get it back into AE managed-device mode again.

Hi Raymond,

Thanks for answering, i checked the license availability and seems the device is unenrolled already.

But problem is i can't do Factory Reset in the device cause it's still Disable.

Also when i tried Hard Reset (Power button & Volume UP), the device just reboot normally.

Thanks & regards,
