Samsung keyboard allowing Spotify and Youtube from within Lockdown

Solved

Hi,

I have a ticket in for this but thought I'd ask here as well.

Samsung must have updated their stock keyboard recently with Spotify, Youtube etc functionality.

This subverts the purpose of the lockdown for our users.

There must be a plain keyboard .apk that does not allow this added functionality Youtube, Spotify.

Does this seem like the correct fix for the issue?

If so, could someone point me to it and the basics to install it please?

Thank you in advance.

You can try it on multible ways:

1. You can try to disable/blacklist the samsung keyboard, so that normally the g-board should be taking it's place.

2. You can just disable/blacklist Youtube/Spotify etc. (depends on what is opened, if it's directly the app, disable the app and try again if it's the website, block the website Samsung tries to open or just do both).

Following ma

(3. Take a look into the Samsung OEM Config app (named as Samsung service plugin) if there are settings available regarding keyboard)

Mr Schafer,

Thank you for answering my question.

I like 1. over 2. because the Samsung keyboard has more than just Spotify and Youtube. There are silly emoji and other settings that can be accessed.

How would you go about blacklisting the samsung keyboard? For example how would I learn the name of the .apk package of the keyboard to block it?

Thanks

When your device is enrolled into Soti, open it's details and switch to "applications".

There you should search for Samsung or Keyboard (as an example) and find something like this:

Keyboard Content Centre : com.samsung.android.icecone

Samsung Keyboard : com.samsung.android.honeyboard

Samsung Keyboard (deprecated) : com.sec.android.inputmethod

This is taken from one of our Samsung devices but not an sctual model so those package id's could be different. And not sure which would be the one you have to block.

And i noticed that the gboard itself was missing on the Samsung device:

Gboard : com.google.android.inputmethod.latin

Maybe you have to install this before or afterwords to have still an keyboard available but it can also be that it's only on my current model and different to yours.

Thanks!

I was able to find 3 samsung keyboard packages in the applications list.

Tried uninstalling them, said "pending uninstallation" but packages returned after restart.

How do I block them?

There's a profile called "Application Run Control", there you can blacklist apps by package id (recommended) or by name.

Add those you want to black there and assign to the device you want to test with.
