Hello everyone

We currently got around 300 Memor 10 registred to Mobicontrol and want to make them use Soti Surf as default browser.

Seems that even with the script

set_default_browser net.soti.surf / net.soti.surf.ui.activities.SplashActivity

Users still get a prompt asking if they want to open link in Google chrome or SotiSurf ?

Any idea on how to get rid of that?

Thanks to all

I tried

But it always finish as partially installed.

Maybe related with the fact that i Need to push it through app policies , cause if not some website seems to respond strangely.

Working better when chrome is up to date.

Hi SteeveP,

Thank you for posting on SOTI Central and thanks Fredric for responding to the post.

-------------------

Please find below link for setting SOTI Surf as the default browser on Android devices (you can choose different version on top right hand corner):

https://www.soti.net/mc/help/v15.5/en/console/data/sotisurf/surf_default_browser.html

After sending the script, please check on the device manually whether the default app has successfully changed to SOTI Surf.

--------------------

Normally, if you have successfully blacklisted the app, the app cannot be seen on the device.

Below link is for your reference:

https://www.soti.net/mc/help/v15.5/en/console/reference/dialogs/profiles/androidplus/profile_appruncontrol_blacklist_androidwork.html

Note: Please test on your test device first to check there is any unexpected result from blacklisting Chrome, as Chrome is the system app and default browser of Android device.

--------------------

Would you please provide more details about under what situation the user will get a prompt to choose a browser?

Kind regards,

Hi ,

I just gave another try.

In fact, Default Browser doesn't even change..

Tried every script on the page without success.

Hi SteeveP,

I have discussed this with our dev team and please note below are some limitations for Android Enterprise:

- User will not be able to override the default browser app if there is some default browser selected after installation of Surf or any other browser.

- User will be able to override the default browser app if there is some default browser selected before installation of Surf or any other browser

- Device settings will not display Surf as its default browser even after it is set as default browser.

You may also try manually change the default browser from Chrome to Surf and do a test.

Hope the above helps.

Kind regards,
