I have tried Mobicontrol connected to SQL Server 2017 running in Linux. It is working fine so far.

Have you ever tested that enviroment? Will Soti support SQL Server in Linux?

Hi Edgar,

That's actually a very interesting question, if we haven't done testing with regards to this, perhaps you could help us understand the use case and why you are interesting in installing MobiControl in a Linux environment vs a MS environment.

If it's not already on the road map, I can forward this useful information to the necessary stakeholders to consider in future releases.

I am following up with the department responsible for testing this to see if it was considered or is being considered.

Hi,

We are interested in offering the service in our own cloud, so this would lower costs.

Hi Edgar,

This sounds like a great idea with the introduction of SQL Server 2017.

Unfortunately we have not had a large enough use case for this type of installation of MobiControl.  We have just elevated our Supported SQL version to MS SQL 2014 R2 and MS SQL Server 2016, from what I understand MS SQL Server 2017 is still fairly new, begin introduced in Oct 2107.

Thank you for confirming that it works, as implementing it into your environment may have less factors to take into consideration.

We are glad and excited to see that we have clients that are pushing the boundaries of the Software to experience it’s full capabilities but unfortunately we do not have this on our roadmap at the moment.

If you choose to implement this installation regardless of what we officially support, we cannot promise that we have the resources to provide the necessary troubleshooting you may require in case you find yourself requiring support, as we do not have completed/confirmed testing for this scenario as of yet.

We thank you for your inquiry and ingenuity and if you feel you have a large enough deployment that you believe warrants that we look into this further, you are welcome to create a case/feature request with support@soti.net and we will evaluate this more in depth but for now I would have to say it is not supported.

Cheers,
