Profile assignments are being deployed but not reflected on admin console

Hi folks,

Hope someone can help? I have a profile containing a single application package. I've assigned it to a couple of device groups and the deployment of the application has completed to the handheld. However, I wanted to then remove it from of the groups, but when I refreshed the screen one of the assigned groups is not showing as having the package deployed any longer.

The following screen shots show my progress.

1. I had a profile assigned to the "test system" group, I added the second 'Weyland' group here and SOTI clearly shows 3 devices targeted:-

2. Here it clearly shows successfully assigned message on the far right and we have a update/refresh red tag as expected: -

3. There are some updates here, so let's press it: -

4. Having refreshed though, the target groups has not been updated to reflect the new device group: -

5. The profile and subsequent package has been deployed to the hand held in this device group and I now want to remove it. However, when I try and remove the assign to the device group, I can't as it isn't showing that it has been assigned: -

Can anyone suggest why this isn't being updated correctly?

Kind regards,

Jono

If I'm following this correctly it sounds like its a bug of some kind. Try restarting the services and making sure the search sync is refreshed and showing at or near 100%. If it is a cloud instance you'll have to open a ticket with SOTI to have them restart the services on your behalf.

** Ignore this - have found the 'report issue' on the main SOTI Identity page **

Thanks Matt, this is a hosted instance, so silly question of the year, how do I escalate this to be a SOTI ticket?

Kind regards,

Jon.

Hi Jon,

Thank you for your post.

Were you able to open a case with Support for this issue? If so, has a resolution been found?

By the sounds of it this is affecting only one Profile so for starters I would recommend cloning the faulty Profile and try testing it on a clean device. You can also check the MobiControl Search Integrity in Global Settings and manually refreshing it until it reaches 100%.

Looking forward to hearing from you. I would really appreciate it if you could mark the appropriate comment as 'Solution' to help others find the answer.

Kind regards,

The same situation happened to me and I noticed this a few days ago.

created a profile that only included the surf package, then assigned to several groups

then went back a day later and reviewed the assignments on that profile and only like 1 or 2 groups were

showing assigned

I'm on soti V15.01

Hi folks,

I did log it with SOTI, but didn't get a satisfactory resolution. Revisited the problem profile a few days after and it was ok again, however the problem does still occur on occasion, not always on the same profile either.  Checked the MobiControl Search Integrity in Global Settings and manually refreshed it until it reached 100%, made no difference.

If anyone finds a resolution, I would be keen to hear it.

Regards

Jon

Hello Jon

Hope you are doing great!!

Thanks for requesting an answer from SOTI Support!

I am able to check your old case and it seems that issue has been resolved for that time by just creating a clone profile  But For your information , You can always reopen the case with in next 30 days or create a new case by giving reference to that case no with Soti agent , incase issue comes back again.

Since you mentioned , the issue always comes up randomly so more investigation is needed on this and we may need to create a development ticket also. Therefore  I will strongly recommend you to create a new case  (click here) or call SOTI Support team(click here) so that we should be able to provide you a permanent fix.

Please let us know if you have any concern.

Kind Regards,

Hi Jon,

I suggest you to explore the possibility of upgrading your MobiControl v15 server to a much newer version.   As of today, I personally won't recommend my customers to use v15.0.x for stability and other reasons.  Most of my long-time and biggest customers just had their servers upgraded to v14.5.x  in the last 2-3 months, rather than using any v15.0.x-15.2.x.    I am seriously testing v15.3, which has many attractive new features added, and hopefully in a few weeks' time, I can recommend my customers to use v15.3.x if everythings looks reasonably good. For determining which version to use/upgrade for one particular customer, it is always a game to balance features with risk/cost not just in strict technical way, but rather an art that sometimes need gut feelings, specialist knowhow and some black magic .

I am not from Soti and the above is just my personal view and the strategy of my company.   I don't want to say any particular version has any particular problem, which may be big issue for one customer but insignificant for others.    I personally think that Soti has been delivering nearly the best world-class EMM solution, and some glitches here or there are inevitable in such a complex software and ever-evolving EMM fields involving so many platform/OEM-brand/app-developer parties.   We want our customers, especially those big ones with mission critical requirements, to use the best and stable versions that we ourselves feel comfortable with.
