Hi,

Just wondering if anyone would know if there is a script to turn on the GPS on android phones.

Currently using samsung phones (xcover4 and a3/a5) and have noticed that when trying to use the location service it doesnt automatically or temporarily turn on the devices GPS as the location service fails when the GPS is turned off on the device.

So was wondering if there was a script we can send to the phone to turn on the GPS so we can run the location service to find phones user have lost

Hi Glen

Did you try this?

This works for my devices (Zebra TC56).

Currently using Mobicontrol v14.1 and this is what i see for android plus devices.

I have tested the enforce GPS setting and it looks like it does work and turns it on, but a profile has to be created and assigned to the phone or a group. I was hoping to avoid making too many unnecessary groups and profiles as we manage over 1700 devices and there already too many.

Also didnt want to have this constantly on as this does drain the battery on users devices.

Leaving the GPS will drain the battery as much as you think. We have ours set to record GPS Data every 30 minutes and to upload on next check in. It is set to check in on connection and every 4 hours with no issue.
