Issue Description

Sometimes, customers need their managed application to remain on the device even after the device is unenrolled from SOTI MobiControl. Although there is a configuration option available to control this behavior, simply toggling the setting on or off does not always produce the expected result. This article explains the observed behavior and provides a workaround to ensure the application remains on the device after unenrollment.

Prevention

To prevent unintended app removal, use the following workaround:

1. Edit the app policy to toggle off “Remove App When Device is Un-enrolled.”

2. Enable “Update this application on all devices targeted by this App Policy regardless of version” in Update App on Devices.

3. Send the Update.

This ensures the app remains on the device after un-enrollment.

Cause

By default, the “Remove App When Device is Un-enrolled” toggle is enabled, which instructs SOTI MobiControl to automatically remove the app upon device un-enrollment.

Disabling the toggle after initial assignment does not always override the original removal instruction unless the suggested workaround is applied.

Issue Resolution

The issue will be resolved in future versions of SOTI MobiControl.

Workarounds
