Situation

In a multi-server setup (e.g., with three Management Servers and eight Deployment Servers), the SOTI XSight Display Service (formerly called SOTI XSight Management server pre-2024) can be installed on all Management Servers. Typically, the customer will use one Management Server as the primary server, while other Management Servers act as backups in the event that the primary server fails.

Customers can designate a Management Server (with SOTI XSight Display service installed) as the priority for remote control functionality. Should the primary server become unavailable, the client can log into SOTI MobiControl using the backup Management Server and adjust the URL for remote control. Updating the URL causes remote control services to resume, even when the primary Management Server is inactive.

Environment

Applicable to all SOTI XSight versions.

Process Description

To update the SOTI XSight server URL to point to a different one, follow these steps:

1. Log in to the SOTI MobiControl web console as an administrator.

2. From the main menu, select Global Settings > SOTI One > SOTI Assist/SOTI XSight.

Note: If the existing SOTI XSight URL (e.g., TestMS-Server1.mobicontrol.com) is currently non-operational, and there is a second Management Server with the SOTI XSight Display service installed, you can switch the URL to this backup server (e.g., TestMS-Server2.mobicontrol.com).

3. Enter the URL in the SOTI Assist/SOTI XSight URL field. Ensure the remote control session is initiated from the server specified in this field.
