Issue: currently most devices connected to server 1. 5000+ only about 400 devices connect to server 2. I try to configure deployment server pirority for a child folder which has about 200 devices. try to force them connect to server 2 only - override settings Inherited from parent group "xxxx" I have set the child folder override setting from parents, and set server 1 priority = 2 and server 2 priority = 1. But after apply the settings, still no luck, devices rebooted but still connect to server 1.
hello there. we recently deleted some devices from mobicontrol, but he license still take place. how to claim back these license? what is the difference between unenroll vs delete devices. thank you in advance
Hello, We want to use a tablet in our stores. We do this by using Mobicontrol and the lockdown function.Previously we had a problem opening PDF files downloaded from the default website we set.To solve this, we used Soti Surf and set it up completely to your liking so that the PDF files could simply be opened in the browser.Because administrative actions have to be done on the tablet and a physical keyboard was required, we switched from a Samsung to a Lenovo P11 PRO tablet. This is the moment when our big problems started. However, the linked keyboard from Lenovo starts a 'Productivity mode' where Soti Surf is started in a small window and can no longer be used fullscreen.Unfortunately, this mode cannot be disabled, which is also confirmed by Lenovo.Soti Surf can therefore no longer be used and with that we have to rely on the 'https: //' function to be able to start a browser fullscreen in a kiosk mode. Here we only run into the PDF problem for which we previously switched to Soti Surf.As soon as you try to open a PDF file in the browser, you will see that the screen flashes white for a moment and then nothing opens. Like if it is blocked some how.We can confirm that the PDF is being downloaded, but it will not be opened. We've tried a lot but we just can't figure out how to fix this. Hence the call for help here!Does anyone have any idea how we can fix this?If we cannot solve this, we will have to switch to another tablet that is also considerably more expensive.Surely there must be a solution for this? Thanks in advance. Greeting, Sander SinkeldamNelson Schoenen BV Mobicontrol version: 15.2.3.1033 Android Agent: 14.4.6.1001
I am planning to update a group of Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ phones from Android version 9 to the latest release of Android 11. As part of this I tried performing the update on a test phone. Currently a restriction is configured in SOTI to stop Android updates, so I created a test group for the phone and removed the management profiles. After the profiles were removed the OS update proceeded and all that went fine, however, a message started appearing on the screen saying: "Connection to server failed; SSL handshake failed" which I assumed was coming from the MobiControl app trying to reach the SOTI cloud server. This seems akin to the following discussion: SSL handshake failed but there does not seem to be a clear resolution to this issue. Checking the applications list it seemed I had two versions of MobiControl - the current one and a previous version, likely the one that existed from when the phone was running Android 9. I deleted the older version; however, the newer version could not talk to the server with the Agent Status, within MobiControl, showing "Disconnected." I deleted this version of the app and tried downloading the version from the Play Store but, after entering the Enrollment ID and trying to enrol, the process eventually timed out saying: "Enrollment failed. Please retry or contact your system administrator." I tried using the OEM download from the soti.net/oem page and choosing Samsung ELM, however, once installed I had the same result. I really don't know how to fix this issue as I am new to SOTI and the existing configuration was already in place before I started. Any guidance on how to resolve or troubleshoot this problem would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your help.
Hello all, I got an interesting question from one of my customers. He has Android devices enrolled in MobiControl with Androd Enterprise as Work Managed Devices. He wants to change the host file on the device. The location is /system/etc and the file is named hosts. You are able to get this file with the following adb command: adb pull /system/etc/hosts destination-path. If I want to push the edited file back via adb, you need root on the device. If I want to push the edited file via SOTI Package, it seems that the file never get copied to the device but the profile and package is shown installed in the MobiControl console. Does anyone have experience in this topic? Am I able to push a file via SOTI Package to the system folder? Do I need root rights? Is it possible to get root for SOTI? Would you recommend it? Thank you in advance. - Felix
Hello, android has in his profile configuration the Task Scheduler. Unfortunately iOS doesn't have this configuration. I was looking for an optionto execute scripts for iOS device (example: restart the device). My goal is to execute a restart everyday at a specific time. Is there an option to configure that for iOS devices too? I don't want to use third party apps because i want to manage thiswithin MC. Thank you.
Hello all, I have the following scenario with a customer. He is using a MobiControl on premise installation, version 15.1.1, in his internal network. Currently every MC part is installed on one main server (Deployment Server, Management Server, SQL DB). He wants to add a second Deployment Server in his DMZ to make the SOTI MC environment externally available. I installed and configured a lot of SOTI MC servers in the past but never added a second Deployment Server to an existing one. The question is, are there any things to keep in mind while installing a second Deployment Server? I am aware of opening ports between the main server and the second server and installing the Deployment Server with the SOTI MC 15.1.1 installation setup on the second server (only with the Deployment Server checked in the setup). Thank you in advance for your answer!
Hi everyone, Currently i am enrolling about 80 Samsung A01 devices. After do the enrollment, my client asked me to get Android Device ID from each devices. I found out device ID that SOTI showed in MC console is IMEI, which is not my client ask. Is there any way to get the Android device ID from each device through SOTI Mobicontrol? Thanks & regards, Randy
Good morning all! I have a question in regard to the application permissions for MobiControl. Whenever in Device Owner mode wouldn't Soti be able to grant the needed permissions without any user interaction? We're currently up against the fact that we're deploying a lockdown profile to the devices upon enrollment. Whenever the device is enrolled and the profile is set before anyone grants permissions manually the user won't be able to grant the permissions after the lockdown kicks in place. The user does get the notification that there's a user action pending and after clicking the notification it show the MobiControl page where you can navigate to the setting required but that step is blocked due to the lockdown being active. I find it strange that even in device owner mode and enrolled using Samsung Knox/Android Zero touch the user needs to grant those permissions. We've currently scoped down to just system setting permissions but we'd like to leverage all permissions for the MobiControl app but user actions are definitely blocking us from that.
Hi everyone Anyone have seen this issue before? It all started in february. More than 5k Android tablet have this error at check-in (logs mobicontrol) now. Deployment Server error (Failed to retrieve and issue Client Certificate. Device may not be able to communicate on subsequent connections.) The enrollment time (in the Information tab) for this tablet is 2015-10-20. If we go to Certificates tab in Mobicontrol, we actually see that the certificate will expire in 2 months (April). The thing is that we checked all our deployment server certificate and the expire date is in 2030 same as the Mobicontrol Root. We are on the 13.4.0.5519 version Thanks
Dear SOTI,Currently we are experiencing issues whenever we try to register a mobile phone in our own SOTI Server, during the registration procedurement, the certificate of the machine we would like to connect to is shown as invalid ( "Enrollment Failed, Please retry or contact your system administrator."). What is interesting is that we can register successfully any phone running any version of Android in ELM and/or AFW Mode, except those running Android 10 in AFW Mode.We would like to point out that our own self host Server has already a SHA256 certificate and Mobicontrol version: 15.3.0.6711.As you could see in the pictures link below, it seems that the issue is related with the SOTI certificate SHA1.Would you please help us with some advice regarding the issue?Thank you very much indeed in advance. Hello, ---------- MC Version : 15.2 Device Platform OS : Android 7.1 Device Management Type : AE / DO ---------- We would like to deploy and configure a Per-App VPN on our managed devices, ideally through the Cisco AnyConnect app. The goal is to be able to specify which applications should connect through the VPN. We would like that the process is transparent to the user. The user launches the application, the application opens a VPN connection. When the user closes the application, the VPN connection is disconnected. We have configure an App Catalog rule in order to deploy the app via a Managed Play Store and we have set the Application Type to "Mandatory". The App Configuration let us specify which apps have to be tunneled. Problem is that this App Configuration does not allow us to specify a username, a password and a group, only the host can be specified. Do you have an idea so that we can implement this solution? Does anyone use Cisco AnyConnect? Many thanks for your help and advice ! BR
I am fairly new to Java but I know enough to see what a javascript is doing and how to manipulate it to do what I need to get done. I would like to convert some of my legacy scripts to Java because they are a bit more robust and give me a few more options. Here is an example of one of my legacy scripts var MyApp = 'com.test.mobile'; var location = 'some.location' kill_application %MyApp% sendintent -a "test.AppConfig://Config?BaseAddress=http://%location%:8080/testingapp&SystemName=TestApi&DeviceId=%MCDEVICENAME%&PinUsername=True&PinPassword=True" My question is how do I use Java to send mobicontrol commands like "sendintent" or "kill_application". Is it possible to call and set mobicontrol variables like in the previous example?
I have a problem when I re-enroll Android devices that have been sent to Zebra for repair. I re-enroll the device and I can literally watch Mobicontrol and see that the device is re-enrolled with a new name and the name that it previously was using disappears. I then rename the 'new' device back to the name that I want it to have, and put it in the proper folder to pull down the appropriate profile. My issue is that even though Mobicontrol knows it is the same device being re-enrolled it is still claiming a new license. Every time I re-enroll a device, my number of free licenses is dropping by one, when it actually should just be using the same license it was using before. I've started deleting the device to reclaim the license, and then re-enrolling the device again, but my issue is that this has apparently been going on for quite a while and I probably have 50-100 devices that are tying up two licenses each. Is there a way I can clean out these ghost licenses so I can free them up in the system?
