SOTI MC on premise - add a second Deployment Server

Hello all,

I have the following scenario with a customer. He is using a MobiControl on premise installation, version 15.1.1, in his internal network. Currently every MC part is installed on one main server (Deployment Server, Management Server, SQL DB). He wants to add a second Deployment Server in his DMZ to make the SOTI MC environment externally available.

I installed and configured a lot of SOTI MC servers in the past but never added a second Deployment Server to an existing one. The question is, are there any things to keep in mind while installing a second Deployment Server?

I am aware of opening ports between the main server and the second server and installing the Deployment Server with the SOTI MC 15.1.1 installation setup on the second server (only with the Deployment Server checked in the setup).

Hello Joshua,

there was a small problem after the installation. The MobiControl Search Integrity wasn't at 100% as it should be. It was always changing between 1% and 90%. That caused that not every device was shown in the device list and sometimes deleted devices were shown there.

We opened a ticket for the SOTI Support staff, they helped us out and everything is working fine now.

Always make sure all DS have the same version and build numbers for a multi-DS HA system.  Otherwise, the databases may get corrupted as binary of different version/build number may have slighting different schema (e.g. new table added, old table made obsolete, etc.).

Thanks for posting to Soti Central!!

For addition of secondry deployment server , you always need to make sure 

You licnese key must be supportive to add two servers 

As per Raymond suggestion , kindly use the same version of mobi control as per your primary deployment server.

As you rightly mentioned also , kindly check the depoyment server during  set up.

Kindly make sure you should be able to access your exisisting sql server  database from your secondry deployment server on port 1433 (outbound from  your deployment server to database)
