    Admin Mode

Hello, I'm having trouble entering admin mode on most of my devices. I have a lock down profile applied and when I go to enter admin mode, MobiControl with just show a prompt that says "Switching to admin mode" and will never exit. The only way I can get out of lock down mode is by sending commands from the web console. However, I would like to be able to do this from the device, because sometimes I need to make changes on the fly and don't always have a computer with me. Has anyone came across this issue before? If so, how did you fix it? I have listed my MobiControl version and device's information below. MobiControl Version: 15.3.0.6713 Device Information Model: Zebra VC80x Operating System: Android 8.0.1 Build: 02-32-04.00-OG-U20-STD (GMS) MobiControl Agent Version: 14.5.4 Build 1016 (Android Enterprise) Plugin Version: 1.6.0.102 Mode: Work Managed Device (Device Owner) MobiControl has all permissions enabled.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Active Pro enrollment in SOTI Solved

Hello, Currently we try to enroll Samsung tablets in SOTI after a very good experience with Honeywell CT60 devices knowing almost nothing about the "Samsung world".Now, after some days we are still struggling to find a "fast and clean" solution to stage/provision these devices. The first surprise was the "SOTI MobiControl Stage Programmer" where on the WiFi options we had only OPEN/WEP/WPA association modes without the posibility to chose 802.1x EAP (required in our environment)...so a no go scenario? After this we've tried to use the "afw#mobicontrol" method which has worked but based on the agent type (Agent Version 14.5.3.1017) with limited functionalities (Supported APIs Remote View, Work Managed Device)I would really appreciate from somebody with a know-how experience a "little help". Thanks!

    Installation issue of Enterprise application

Hi, I'm using SOTI cloud server v14.4.9 with Samsung Xcover4s devices enrolled with Android Enterprise agent (14.5.3.1017) and which are on Android 10 version. I tried to push an apk through application catalog / "Enterprise Applications" type but it seems like the apk isn't transmitted to devices. If I check logs of devices I can see the line below: Device is missing mandatory application As I set the application as mandatory I should get the apk on SOTI agent menu of the device under "Application catalog" menu but nothing appears. I tested to install manually the same apk directly on the device with usb cable and it works. This is the first time I try to push an apk through "Enterprise application", when the apk is available on PlayStore I used to go through "Managed Google Play" and then the apk are pushed correctly. Could someone help me with this issue? Thanks

Android Enterprise disable software updates / keep firmware consistent across the board

Hello, I manage our field team's Samsung S20 devices and some of our current applications require us to remain on Andriod 10 as there is currently some incompatibility with Android 11. We will be wanting to upgrade when this is solved for security reasons but ideally, I would like to be able to limit user's ability to upgrade and instead push safe updates out to the field when they are tested. I am hoping there is a new solution to this but so far I have not seen anything. Other than moving over to the Samsung Knox suite that does appear to have this functionality. So for now I have been using this script to stop the updates. "writesecureprofstring DeviceFeature BlockOsUpgrade 1" Up until now, this solution has been working, however, if any changes are made to profiles assigned to the devices the fix is undone requiring me to send the script again. If this is not caught, then the device is left vulnerable for the automatic updates to start downloading. Once they are downloaded we have to factory reset the phone in order to avoid it asking to start the update every day. Any ideas why this is happening? I am not making any changes to the feature control, even moving devices between groups will reset the OS upgrade block.  At device enrollment, I have also set a task scheduler to send the script but this seems to be ignored, not sure why this is but it means enrollment has 1 extra manual step. I have considered are using a task scheduler to send the feature control script every couple of minutes but this seems like overkill and I would rather a cleaner solution.  Does anyone know of any other workarounds?  Thanks in advance

Show Device Name on Lock Screen Solved Locked

I'm looking to find the proper scripting syntax to set the text on a Zebra TC52 lock screen to be the Device ID. This can be manually set in Settings > Display > Advanced > Lock Screen > Add text on lock screen. I've checked through various documentation and found the "deviceOwnerLockScreenInfo" value in the Android API, but haven't found a way to set this through SOTI. I've tried using the "watchsettings on" script, but it is not supported by the device according to logs. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Device: Zebra TC52 OS: Android 10 Agent: 14.5.1.1074 MX: 10.4.0.18

My Mobicontrol version is 15.3.0.6711 After enrollment i found out 1 device can't do Remote Control. The API that showed only Remote View. It's weird because the rest of the device all can do Remote Control.  Anyone experienced this before? Maybe someone has suggestion to my issue.. Thanks & regards, Randy Saputra

Disable Notifications for AE Devices per App via a Script

I've got some Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (SM-T295) devices running Android 10 and enrolled via AE. They are constantly making background notification noises, which I believe is coming to from the Google Play Store. Does anyone know of a way to disable notifications on a per app basis via a script that i can send to the devices?

Cannot open Google Drive on devices

I have Samsung tablets on android enterprise that have the google drive app pushed via packages and included in kiosk mode but will not open. It will open for a second but will then close itself. If I leave the lockdown and try to run it manually it says that "this action is disabled by mobicontrol. contact your organization's administrator to learn more." I don't have any feature control enable nor do I have application run control enable. Specs: Galaxy tab A 2019 Android 10 Agent: 14.5.1 Build 1074

    Android 11 and MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission

Usually when installing apps from package or App Catalog, it grants automatically all permissions requested by the app. In Android 11 it does not grant MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE. It is possible to grant the permission by  afw_set_permission_grant_state app.name android.permission.MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE allow It means by a package it flows fine, by adding a post-script. Is there a way to do it by app catalog, or get a kind of trigger to start a script when the app is installed ? My workaround is to create a schedule task running periodically with the afw_set_permission script.

Allow Smart Switch on Samsung Android Enterprise devices Solved Locked

Hi, is there anyway to enable Samsung Smart Switch on Android Enterprise Devices? We've been trying to enable Samsung Smart Switch but until now we haven't been able to do it.In our company we have two types of devices, ELM and Android Enterprise DO, and all of them are enrolled in Samsung Knox and managed from Soti Mobicontrol. In our ELM devices we've been able to enable the usage of Smart Switch, but we haven't been able to enable it on our Android Enterprise devices. We've tried to create a series of testing profiles to see if we could manage to, but still no progress has been made. We tried every option available in the "Feature controls" tab,but none of them seem to be able to enable Smart Switch. It always shows the following message: "Security Policy restricts the use of Smart Switch". Looking around the internet, we've found information which explains that because security policy in AE DO, every feature related to security backups are disabled by default. Nontheless, there's a way to get around the problem in Knox Manage to allow it. This makes us wonder if there's any possibility of enabling this feature in Soti Mobicontrol. Our Deployment Server Version is 15.1.0.3416. Some samples checked: SamsungMdmV57, Samsung RC v1, Samsung KNOX v2.4, Dispositivo de Trabajo Administrado SamsungMdmV57, Samsung RC v1, Samsung KNOX v3.3, Dispositivo de Trabajo Administrado

    Query about android updates

Hello everybody, I wanted to make the following query about the Android update system through SOTI. We are implementing a system, in which, during several days of the week, the update file would be copied to the various terminals, and on a different day the update would be installed. The problem is, that during the tests we had a mishap, according to the logs of the SOTI rule that is responsible for copying the files to the terminals, this file had been copied correctly in all the terminals, but on the day of execution, We checked that only a certain number of them had been updated, we checked the terminals and to our surprise, they did not have the update file copied but in the rule logs it appeared the opposite. At this point, I thought about using an .xml file to create a custom data, so that it would be downloaded together with the update file, but when redirecting the custom data to the xml information, it did not detect it and in SOTI The field does not appear, the name of the custom data does appear but without information. Has something similar happened to someone else? What update systems do you have implemented for android terminals? Do you have any ideas or suggestions about how I could solve the custom data problem, or any improvement for the update system? My SOTI version is: 14.1.5.1284 and the terminals are mostly TC52 and WT6000. Thank you very much to all.

    Certificate Renewals on Zebra Devices

Has anyone else had problems with MobiControl not getting rid of expired certificates? I have a subset of devices that are using a device level cert assigned through a template to the CA (that my Admin setup) where the expired certificate does not get removed from the device. This then cause problems on several levels: 1. VPN does not use the correct cert 2. Unable to remove the Cert through the Console. 3. If I revoke the NetMotion configuration profile, the configuration gets uninstalled, but the cert does not uninstall, now this profile is stuck in a Removing Status. The only way that I have been able to clean up the device is delete it and re-enroll it which is not an acceptable solution as most of my devices are remote around the world.  MobiControl Console: 14.1.2.1937 Agent: 14.4.4.1051   Device: Zebra TC75x / TC77   OS: Android 8.1   Management Mode: Android Enterprise     Anybody have any thought? This has been happening on about 4% of my devices. I have opened a ticket with support, but they have not responded yet.   Thanks, Jim
