Hello,

We have Soti Instances one runing windows devices and another Managing Android Enterprise devices,

This was done simply as we wanted to start clean with the android devices, my Idea now is to migrate the windows devices to the new Soti server running on the same version 14.7.

firstly Would you recommend this and secondly can this be done via a script ?

I wouldnt personally recommend it as it could be a relatively cumbersome migration with minimal reward. The only benefit I really see is being able to reduce the number of servers that your administering but otherwise there aren't that many overlaps in configuration between CE and Android devices. If it were me I would cap and grow the CE estate and let it die a natural death rather than putting in new cycles to migrate them between servers. There also are SHA certificate considerations between the different device types. Older CE devices don't support the newer SHA encryption levels that are being instituted by default and are becoming a requirement on newer Android and iOS versions.

If your Windows devices include those runining OS earlier than Windows 10, then such devices should likely stay in your existing server rather than upgrading to latest MobiControl server.  Matt has already mentioned some of the reasons.  Availablity of functional device agents for those relatively old devices to work with more recent MobiControl server is also a big issue.

If your Windows devices are all running Windows 10, then there is no particular reason why they should be managed by another MobiControl server instance different from that managing your Android-Enterprise devices.

Thank you very much Gents I appreciate your input on this topic, I agree that there will not be much of a benefit other than having less servers to administer and yes our windows devices are all running wm6.5 or lower.

Hello Wayne,

Following up on this thread, were you able to resolve the issue? If yes, I would like to know what were the steps taken to resolve the issue and I can mark that as a Solution.

Regards,
